Hi,
I would be really grateful for any advice on this matter.
I have a Canon Powershot S50 digital camera which is a cracking camera, but recently at my daughters party ,she was using it and managed to damage the front sliding cover.
It still slides, but is loose and makes a clicking noise when sliding it open and closing now, as if it has come off the runners?.
I took it to Jessops , who stated it would cost £25.00 to send away and the bill could be anything, stating the average camera repair was around the £100.00 mark or more.
I just wondered if anyone has actually took one of these apart or knows if it is easy to repair.
Or should i cut my losses and get something else.
Any info would be gratefully accepted thanks.

to be honest mate it's probably not worth sending it away, the cost to repair is probably at least the worth of the camera :(

Having said that if you're at all handy with diy I'd give it a go yourself. Nothing to lose

Not the same camera exactly but a Canon A560 can be had from Argos for £58.50 with a years guarantee and (in part at least) better specs. At those prices repairing an older model just isn't worth it.
