Is it possible to automate RAW processing in CS3?

As the thread title says, is it possible to record an action to partially automate RAW processing in Photoshop CS3. I tend to apply the same values to most of my shots in the RAW converter with regards to Blacks, Clarity, Vibrance and Saturation, before I crop the shot and then open in CS3 itself to apply unsharp mask and then save as a Jpeg. Is it possible to tell the RAW converter to apply certain values when the file is opened from Bridge, and then let me review and crop and open in CS3? I've tried recording an action already but I can't stop it at the cropping stage in the RAW converter. Any ideas anyone?
 
This is a difficult question to answer, doing it via an action very unlikely. Doing it via a script maybe if the files were selected in Bridge.
It would depend on a few factors:
What format are the output files (JPG or Save For Web)/quality?
The crop is can be difficult, is it going to be a set ratio (ie 3:2)?
Is there anything else that needs to be done?
Do you need to be prompted for the output folder etc?
 
Click the right side of the bar where it says "Basic"
Go down to save settings, and give them a name.
I have my standard conversion, and the same thing with sharpening added for low ISO shots.

Thats excellent, exactly what I'm looking for. But how do I get my new settings to appear in the drop down menu, as you have there? I can get to them via the 'Apply Preset' menu, but if I could have RAW converter apply them when a file is opened it would save me a huge amount of time.

I know I can save them as a new set of Camera Raw defaults but I don't want to do that, as some shots are processed differently.
 
When you choose "Save Settings..." and give it a name it appears in the "Apply Preset>" extended menu, then just click the one you want.
It'll apply them to however many are selected.
It takes less than a second probably, that's about as fast as I know how to do it.

I think "my_default" is ticked as I had already used it before taking the screencap.
 
Sorry I thought you has the basics covered and I was concerned on how you could do the cropping, yes it can be done but not setting it up in ACR it needs a script to control the flow.
Also if you need different settings for selections of Photos you can set up your presets in ACR then from Bridge select the bunch you require then
Edit - Develop Settings and choose your preset.
This will set the files up so that you could use image processor on all the files.
