Is it just me?

Ordered 5 rolls of b&w film from Harrisons in Sheffield yesterday, arrived this morning at 9:30. Went out with my digital camera before lunch trying to "estimate" the correct shutter speed with the ISO set at 400 and the aperture set at f11. Why is it so scary to do something that came naturally 30 odd years ago. Put the film in and just DO IT!. Mind you, I was using a Cannon AE1 at the time, don't think correct exposure was too much of a problem then. My Pentax S1A will be a bit of a test for me.

Monobath processes have been available since the end of the 19th Century but have had a mixed reception. This one claims to have solved the two big problems of getting a smooth range of tones and providing an archival standard of fixing. I'm contemplating giving it a go but I might let a few more people get the arrows in their hats first. :naughty:
I think @RaglanSurf might be using a monobath at the mo....

Yes, Cinestill DF96, so far I like it, although I’ve only used it in OOD film, really must try it in some fresh film stock.

I thought about saying you could come here, but then you'd have to wait a few hours for your film to dry, where if you can hang it at home it would be much easier. I can bring all the hardware but I am all out of developer as it has probably expired, sadly.
@gazmorton2000 Just reread your post and your offer to bring the equipment with you. Thanks so much.

What I'll do then is shoot a couple of rolls of B&W (Ilford FP4 Plus 120) and get some Cinestill DF96 monobath - worth trying? and get back to you when I've shot the film to arrange your trip down if ok with you?

That's fine, although I have never used monobath to develop. I have always used developer, stop and fixer. It's a fun process.
