No
.....but was there a huge number of threads on BSB Oulton Park........

............and not a lot on the actual race?

It's pretty hard to tog on race day because of the number of people there. I wasn't there on Monday, but I did watch the Eurosport coverage and it looked as busy as ever.

There was only 11000 there which is no where near as busy as it usually is.

It looked deserted on TV..............

.................and even more so on here..........

..................................despite the numbers of threads posted here during the lead up!

Where were you all ?

It looked busy to me I have to say. If it was quiet it might have been the weather forecast, which wasn't great. It was such a busy weekend. After being there on Saturday, Silverstone on Sunday and two nights out as well, I was shattered by Monday and just couldn't be bothered to go

Friday, Saturday and Sunday was overloaded............

.........were you all back at work on Monday................

.....................or was the race not so good?

That is just what I mean!

I think the fact that every race is on Eurosport 2 as well might put some people off, especially if the weather is crap. I knew I wasn't missing anything, I just sat in front of the TV and watched all the races anyway

One's point is made!

I done most of mine on sunday as the wee fella was first race on monday.

Didnt take many in his race as he crashed on lap five :bang:. I seen it happen from a distance and sprinted down to see if he was ok. I was knackered after that. So headed back up and got packed away to head home

Fair doo's !

I think I was more surprised that there were more pics of Oulton on here than anywhere else..........

...............so why did I feel I was watching an alien track yesterday?

Hi.

I accept your point, but I think you have to consider that most people posting on here do not have press priveleges and on race day cannot get the same vantage points that are available to them during practice and qualifying, from a photography point of view that is.

I personally enjoy the racing and if I had the opportunity to be at Oulton Park yesterday I wouldn't have taken the camera anyway.

I don't understand your comments. Why can't you get the same vantage point on race day that you can during qualifying?

Surely the best chances of action shots are on race day?

on race day its so busy many shots are of peoples heads,i like qualiy days so theres plenty of chances to get a clear shot.

Exactly, consider trying to pan a superbike screaming past you at 140mph + shoulder to shoulder in a crowd, the chances of getting a decent shot are just about nil .

But you wouldn't pan a superbike screaming past you at 140mph + on raceday!

That is not race action photography! Race action is pack shots, two or more bikes in frame. There are a couple here.. (ironically the thread starts with a pan shot).. http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=1458489&postcount=1

I have to disagree. If you read this guys "blog" he has media accreditation so can avoid the crowds and pick his locations.
I, like Matt S, go to watch the racing on raceday and take far less pics as I don't expect them to be as good as on practice days.

BSB is usually packed to rafters come rain or sun, bikers are far more hard core followers then car followers, the TV coverage is no different to last year, or the year before, both weekends where wet yet the crowds where huge raceday. Dont know about the crowd size this year but deffo didnt look as busy as last, to make a point last year they actually had to extend the campsite i stayed on 3 times over the course of the weekend.

I just read about that, real shame, but there were quite a few fallers during the day, seemed more so then normal on the coverage.

Sorry, didn't realise there was a deadline! ;)

What with going back to work on Tuesday, and making sure all my backups are up to date due to one of my disks starting to show signs of failure, I've barely started sorting out the keepers.

If you're (un?)lucky I might get something posted before they come back in October :D
