Ive been on there site and it just says register so is it free..?

All visitors who have not pre-registered are still welcome - it's just £10 on the day.

If you are a professional photographer or other trade visitor who pre-registered for FOCUS 2012, registering again will provide us with your up to date details in advance and give you speedy access to the exhibition on site. FREE

Non-trade visitors to FOCUS and hobbyists can pre-register online and pay £8 otherwise its £10 on the day. This includes a free show guide. Children under 14 are allowed free admission to FOCUS but must be accompanied by an adult.
 
Is it camera gear there or is it more about printing and processing etc..?

I run my own business (not photography related) can i just say i'm trade?

There are cameras but we have not been for a couple of years as there are less exhibitors now. However for a first time visitor there is still plenty to look at and the talks (free) are worth listening to. What is good is if you want to know anything you are talking to the experts not a third party.

even as a non professional the 10 quid entrance fee is worth it there's a lot to see and if your paying attention you might learn something about lighting along the way
not a lot to pay in my opinion :)

It's really quite simple

If you're not registered, entry is £10 per person. If you register, and many people do, entry is free

Parking is quite separate from admission and is £10 per car. If you're going by public transport, the venue is next to Birmingham International railway station.
 
If your worried about parking charges just look to see which of the other exhibitions on the same time offers free car parking and claim you went to one of them on the way out. :thumbs:

I understand its 'quite simple' but entry is not free if you register because you pay £8. That's a £2 difference. Don't get me wrong it's well worth it anyway
 
I assume you mean that registering is free for professionals?

That's not what the website says.

Pro: free if registered, £10 on door
Amateur: £8 if registered, £10 on door.
 
I went several years ago for free, yet I'm not a pro or even a semi pro, I just said I was on the registration website, still get my free pass sent to my address every year. I know it's a lie and I'm the only person that has ever told a fib to save a bit of money, and EVERYONE else on here is 100% honest, just saying what is possible.

If you don't want to pay the £10 car park use the train, just drive to a station one stop from the nec and both have ( one in either direction) free parking and a couple of pounds return train fair.

The free registration is for pro photographers and trade visitors, most people can claim to be trade visitors

Just e-mail or call.. explain you're a sole trader... you'll get a free pass. I know loads of people who do this every year.
