Is Flickr still worth using?

Flickr used to be the go to photo sharing site but you don't hear much of it these days, is it still worth using over Instagram?

I use it primarily as a photo hosting site - some claim there's a community there, but crit isn't usually welcome.

If I want to talk about my pictures then I post them here.

Certainly no community there anymore other than a mutual appreciation society

But it's helpful for hosting images for strangers to view, although I prefer Google photos for family and friends.

Flickr and Instagram are different to each other, they're nowhere near similar. You should not prefer one over other because you could use both for different purposes.

Flickr is an image hosting website where you show so many photos, like an online version of an art gallery. For example: You went off on a travel, took so many photos, and want to display them at an art gallery, you would do the same, and upload to Flickr instead of an actual art gallery. It don't have to be travels, it can be any subject, a project you're doing.

Instagram is a social media where you would show a posting of what you're doing at the moment, more like an online version of sending a postcard to someone. You do something, take either a selfie of yourself or a photo of what you're doing (like a photo of your meal when you're going out to a restaurant).

You can use both if you want to.
