Is everyone with a Huawei or ZTE happy to be under surveillance?

No
I couldn't see anything in the article that said Huawei or ZTE phones are affected by this , only that Huawei & ZTE use software from the company concerned.

The only company that was having it's data "farmed" was BLU (from the good old USA)

I don't have a Huawei phone, but I don't give a rat's about "surveillance".

Pretty sure that ANY mobile phone can be used to locate it - is that being under surveillance? Most cities in the UK have ANPR cameras dotted around on entry/exit routes. Not to mention CCTV on the streets and in shops. Use an ATM or a card to pay? That's you surveilled.

Pretty sure that ANY mobile phone can be used to locate it
Especially if you leave a "local" live weather app open, ( which is kinda important in my work)
as I've mentioned before, I went to a shopping area that contained a Morrisons, I was about 100 yards from that store and went into another.
a few minutes after arriving home I had an advert for Morrisons "specials"
I never shop at Morrisons, and never had any adverts of that type before.
I now turn the weather app off when I'm not working & out and about...
No more location adverts.

Very rarely have my phone connected to the net, send few texts, would rather phone people, don't care if the do
swnd info, must be very boring for whoever deals with it ;)

You'd be happy if your contacts list was sold off to a telephone scam operation?

Wouldn't worry me a lot, I just ignore scam calls so can people on the list, lets face it, we get them anyway so it won't make a lot of difference.
Fir the record I don't have a Huawei phone but I'd like to bet they aren't the only ones doing it

While you may be smart enough there are a multitude of people, normally the elderly that fall for these scams.

People need to wise up on their own data security, its a large part of why these scams exist.

I saw this article in my local news website at the weekend, most alarmingly, the majority of people commenting didn't seem to mind the intrusion...

http://www.gloucestershirelive.co.u...rrorist-risk/story-29882843-detail/story.html

It's stories like that which make me worried that the Mrs May's Snoopers Charter will go through with little opposition because of a general lack of knowledge and / or apathy.

You really feel this is the only way they get these numbers/email addresses
I stopped donating the tax thing on entry to places because of them wanting my phone number/email address
as well as home address, this was often followed by a rise in spam mails and calls, seems they no longer need
them, wonder why ;)
If people feel I am giving away info they can always ask to removed from my contact list

I have a Nexus 6P from Google it's Huawei phone I have no doubt that it's being monitored nothing interesting here! What about apple everyone trust them??

most people give their telephone numbers when ordering items online. So its consented data anyway.
Monitoring texts and phone calls is different though.

The point of this is that the phone will pass on effectively all data you store on it without your awareness. Having been the victim of identity theft on a small scale, I don't find it pleasing.

How many phones is it in? how many calls/data connections are made every day/hour by those phones? who has the data crunching ability to deal with all that data and make sense of it? what's the possibility that anyone with that much power/money is going to care what you said to your partner/mother bought off Amazon even if they do manage to filter it out.

Who knows? Data crunching on a huge scale is relatively easy apparently. Just remember that if you have nothing to hide then there's nothing to fear. :p

But the biggest fear these days is cyber hacking & identity theft.
So even if you have nothing to hide, you have plenty to "give" ;)

I'm pretty sure my Motorola is full of worms. Yesterday I went to local ALDI for a few things and bingo the phone was bugging me to upload photos of the store!!! WTF, why?! I pretty much had raided all google settings and disable almost anything but it clearly had no effect.

Last week I was in the car using Google maps nav and listening to radio. During some add the app suggested I drive to location, just tap the button!

Seriously it just totally crossed me. I will be unlocking and putting CyanogenMOD pretty soon. It can't be any worse, could it?

WTF is CIA going to do with ALDI photos?! I'm genuinely interested.

Another recipient of a successful sense of humour bypass.

I would like to see in what positive and constructive way you had contributed here this week?!

Starts with a 'T'....you've done well with your Sesame Street alphabet!

Truly....the bypass....you're a poster child. :-)

Tongue was firmly pressed against my cheek for that phrase.

And do what with it?

Buy goods in your name and ruin your credit rating, then cause additional stress when you have to deal with the debt collection agencies that start chasing you for money. These things can be unpicked, but it does cause a certain aount of un-needed stress.

Just a thought... that account has been long hacked already as it really makes sense

Trust me, they'd fail dismally to get anything either in my name, or relating to this address.
They'd get laughed at. :D ;)
