Yes
Im in a bit of a debate with a friend re: what menus on the D300 apply in RAW.

My thoughts on it is that the RAW image is free from any picture control settings for colour space or sharpness.

Nor is the noise reduction or ADR applied.

He agrees on the first point but says the noise reduction and ADR is applied to the raw file.

Im not bothered if im wrong, but i would prefer to know which is correct.

NR is only a tag.

D-Lighting will apply negative EV (which obviously will affect the final file) but the curve boost also associated is also just a tag (low, medium, high)

RAW is generally RAW (actually some manipulation is done on-chip with CMOS, but you can't alter this with any settings your end)

If you use Nikon Software ie Capture NX the settings are honoured, otherwise they are just TIFF style tags, that are not understood, say by Lightroom etc.

I use bridge, camera raw, and photoshop, so it would seem that the program will ( as lightroom ) not understand it.

Many thanks andy.

Have you tried Capture NX2, you can alter any camera setting option in the software.

yes i actually moved from NX2 to using adobe, i find bridge great for organizing my images, and i love the way camera raw works.

NX2 just seemed a little on the slow side to me, but i guess everyone has their own preference.

Just wondered, could not get to grips with the adobe stuff, and NX2 runs really well on my Mac Pro.

the adobe stuff is quite daunting till it "clicks" and then it just feels so easy.

When i said slow, i didnt mean in reference to performance, i meant it just felt like you spend alot of time playing with images.
