Is anyone an architect or training to be one?

My Brother is...what do you need? I'll pass it on...

basically Im trying to design a small bungalow, 14m x 8m approx. 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, lounge and office etc.

No idea where to begin and what the best route is.

hire an architect , might seem obvious , but i reckon you would make more mistakes than enough to cover the cost of the professional , i wasnt being you understand :)

When we were designing our house we did all the basic drawings - position, rooms, sizes, doors, windows, drainage runs, exteriors, etc then hired an architect to do the final drawings and get them so they passed all the building regulations as these are so complicated it is best to get a professional to sort them out.

Edit: It was so simple when it was in pencil - if something would not fit, just move a wall outwards, another door needed - just move another wall outwards - this is how our house grew :D

If I'm right (which I may not be) if you pay an architect then they have to keep revising plans until they pass...but I'm not sure. I know my parents had trouble with one who drew up a loft conversion, which didn't get planning permission for something to do with sewage pipes, and he did a runner, which ended up with a CCJ against him.

I know a bloke with a really fancy retractable pencil. I bet he would do it.

Draw yourself a rough plan, thinking about direction to face, access, rooms, what you want, where your studio will go, how to get the dark room in etc.

Then get an architect to do the rest. if youron a budget, then an architectural student may be a good thing - contact your local uni.
