Yes
Well, here I am after a week or so of debating. I haven't really found a laptop that I am certain about buying except for a blooming Mac Book Pro, which I would have to sell a kidney for. Just on the off chance, is 500gb enough for photoshop work? I realise that I would have to be ruthless (which I am shocking at) and that I would use an external hard drive much more, but would it be enough for say a couple of months photos?? Sarah

It all depends on how many images you collect in a couple of months. ;)

But yes, IF you were disciplined. TBH even 256Gb would be enough unless you're shooting thousands of frames a month.

Disk space is always very subjective. What do you class as a couple of months?

We used to shoot day long events and used to end up with maybe 20gb of raw images? That's a couple thousand shots.

Also depends on whether you shoot RAW or jpeg, 1800 odd shots today in less than 7 gig!

going back to what i said earlier, 22Gb=2100 1dmk3 RAW.

so depends how much you shoot a month. a 500Gb drive will hold about approx 52,000 ~15mb RAW (obviously not taking into account OS and programs).

I have just purchased a mac. Had 1tb hard drive.

The advise i was given, which i took, is

Get as much RAM and hard drive space as you can afford.

All the other components will last, RAM and Disk space seem, at the moment, to be the ones that dont have longevity. programmes / apps become more RAM heavy as they become more sophisticated. and storage space is so cheap that you may as well get as much as you can.

I have just bout a 2tb WD external USB3 drive for £80....
