IR Photography

Ah, now I'm really interested in seeing the test shots as I'm not too sure on the filter.

Louise, did you take your ir images on your 30D and if so what filter did you use?

Edit: Great minds think alike, :)before I went for the conversion I also used a Hoya R72.

:D hoya yup! My guess is that it is going to be the filter..

For one the conditions you shoot in need to be bright n right. lighting conditions play the biggest role in IR photography.

My best piece in the right light.

You can achieve a good IR image with limited light, I have taken an image in a wooded area with the sun shafting through the trees, no sky in view.

I'm going to try and capture a few more images using my filter in near perfect conditions ie bright blue sky days and see what happens. If that's still no good I think it must be the filter so I'll get hold of a Hoya R72 and try again.

I am now clompletely obsessed about achieving the sort of images that you've all posted so thanks all and I'll let you know how I get on.

I'm obsessed and they arn't even my images :D
I spent months on the personal IR project and like to see the boundaries stretched :)

Well my image is from a digital SLR I converted to high speed infrared only.
I have had years experience with both filter Hoya R72 and internal modifaction versions.

My advise would be to get hold of an old Nikon D70 n use that for infrared. They capture wonderful IR images that only take a few seconds exposure even at F16.

Had Canon 350D converted some time ago, its great to goout with it and do something different.
