Hi Guys,

I have sent a pic of to the paper and they have ran it, however they have asked for a larger file and "...your picture will be picked up by our system and paid on a space rate, if you don't hear anything in 3 weeks drop me a line"

I have not given them any details for paying me and before I send off the larger file, I want to add my details to the metedata, so.... how do I do this??

Phil.

Ah, no nothing about that I sorry.
Must be a way you can upload and add all the info somehow!

All of those Andy, piece of cake  ingest in pm and don't even look at it, quick code replacement etc Photoscape is not one I've even heard off

This might be a good tech debate number 3! How and what to fill in and why is it important....

:plusone::agree:

might have to get my nikon disc out, i think you can do it in there

got a 'used' copy of cs5, its way too complicated for me ;)

But it would be easy to add all the IPTC
PC version, open image Ctrl Alt I if memory serves and type away.
Save all your info as IPTC file and all you have to do is upload it again. Or, as we are all lazy, have it automatically done when you upload from you memory card.
Happy days

done it, only need to do 1 pic for the paper, but will need a 'proper' programme to do it next time. More bloomin money :(

Good idea. I'd love to know how much people fill in, ie. do you all fill the IPTC Scene and Subject codes and what you you put in Intellectual Genre:

I ahve a feeling half a dozen people will give slightly different answers..

you can save the data as an XMP file.. I took a template from an agency i worked for and changed it to my needs... then when i got my first pic published away from an agency i got some info from the sun newspaper about what they expect to be fuilled in.. I made some slight changes and am now happy wiht mine....

I wont say mines right or the correct way or even the best way... but i get published so it must work :)

others will ahve different ways and theres work... so you may get conflicting answers is my laboured point :)

Yup I agree, and it was one of the topics on my hit list.

Apologies, but I've been a bit busy this week. I'll start a thread either tomorrow or Thursday as I've got plenty of official and not so official guides stashed away, particularly relating to field titles and the difference between PM & LR, but that's dependant on whether things kick off at the US Embassy in the morning.

It's a project that I'm writing up for a news discussion group that I'm a member of, but should relate to sport just as well.

Ok, Thanks so far - now what software shall I buy that will help me create a better work flow? Im using cheap / free stuff at the mo and i've got around £100 to invest.

card in computer - what next????

Phil.

Hi Phil photo mechanic would be my choice without a doubt if time constraints are needed. But PS or Lightroom are just as good with a bit of time!, however, I don't think they'll be under £100 new?.

Looks perfect - 4.6 for £37..... i never update software anyway so im going to download and try the demo for 20 days......

Perhaps we could also incorporate the use of 'Copyright' on our photo's and in the metadata.

All part of the same thing Martin. I will get round to it, I promise, but life is a touch hectic at the moment.
