Yes
Was looking at getting one of these but have been hearing rumours that there are issues with headphones cutting out after a while. As far as I can tell, it seems to happen when people are out running, not an issue that would affect me. Does anyone have any experience of this or does anyone here have anything (good or bad) to say about the shuffle?

Ta.

I had an ipod back in the day and the headphones themselves were crappy, broke after a while and no good AQ wise. not exactly hard to replace though, maybe get some seinny buds?

I had a look at one of these for my boy but I didn't like the lack of controls, the new Nano is pretty good though - have you considered that?

You can buy replacement headphones with the controls (at about £40)
Probably almost cheaper to buy a new Ipod !!!
The new Shuffle is VERY small OK for female hands maybe ?
Reviews so far not very promising mainly because of size, try a Nano instead.

One thing forgot to mention, it is so small there is no USB socket. You have to upload through the headphone socket, which makes it a lot slower to load music, may not be a concern for you though.

Have a look for a Sansa Clip+ . It's small, light, has a display, much better sound quality and much cheaper. I bought a 8Gb one from Currys for minigub for £49.99.

It was voted best player by The Gadget Show & for a change I agree with them :D

//edit// Now down to £39.99

Thanks for the reply David, only thing is that the controls are on the headphones wire so I don't think other brand ones are an option.

they mighta changed the design, it was a fair while ago (I just use my mobile now)

I saw the Gadget show test they did, the Sansa Clip beat the Ipod Shuffle in about all areas from memory, including sound quality.

This is mine.

I understand what you mean by size and weight. I took ages to find one that fitted me........I like to be able to scroll through and pick what I want to listen to rather than a lucky dip.

I don't think the shuffle has this I might be wrong though.

Happy hunting.

No, the ipod shuffle just plays as it finds although I'd only be putting a small amount on at a time so not really an issue. Link doesn't seem to work BTW.

Yeah, they changed it this year. I could use my mobile but I like the idea of the clip

Missed that episode, typical. :bonk:

I have an archos 3, bought it from argos alot cheaper than the i-pod touch and does the same thing. plays music, plays films and plays back photos. what more could i say:thumbs:

Sorry about the link works fine here.

Fine now I'm home, work laptop doesn't exactly fire on all thrusters.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.

I have a Shuffle and have never had a problem with it. It can be used with earphones that don't have a built in controller, as there are controls on the Shuffle itself.

The only negative thing I have found is that it is limited to playing straight through your song list or it can be put in shuffle mode for a random selection. If you want to play a specific song you are out of luck, as there is no provision for doing that.

The positives are that it is very small and unobtrusive. Having said that, I also have a Nano, and much prefer using that due to the screen and increased playback options..

They changed the shuffle this year and the new one doesn't have any controls except on the headphones, hence the dilemma.

Must resist... Must Resist....

Why break the habit of a lifetime. :p
