Stupid Question do you have itunes on your computer? not sure it makes any difference to your problem or not

yer hun i have itunes on me comp but still no gd you can reset via the ipod itself as well as itunes i am gettin pee'd off by the min with it lol :help:

So just to check;

- Your computer wouldn't recognise iPod? By this do you mean when you connect the iPod to the USB/iPod cable, the iPod doesn't appear in iTunes?

- You've performed a reset on the iPod? Do you mean you've reset it by holding buttons and flicking the hold button on the iPod or you've done a restore in iTunes?

Have you tried the cable in a different USB port?

Is it possible you have removed it previously without ejecting it first. If so it may not acknowledge it being reinserted. Try to open iPod in My Computer to view files, it may appear as a removable drive or USB storage , then see if you get the option to "safely remove drive". Bit of a long shot but it may help

What type of iPod

its an ipod touch and reset to factory settings but when switched on it tells me to conect it to itunes on comp i have done this i am at my wits end my comps wont recconise it as a secondary removable drive neither hope this helps tks :bang:

Did you already have itunes installed on the pc or have you just installed it. If you have just installed it connect the ipod and reboot the pc and see if it picks it up.

Ok with the ipod plugged in, right click MyComputer go to manage then go do Disk Management

Is the ipod listed there? It should show as a removable drive?

If not on the above, plug it in, start iTunes then :

Press and hold the sleep button for 3 seconds, then keep hold of that and press the home button for another 10 seconds, then release the sleep button.

That will put your iPod into recovery mode, iTunes should then pick it up as an iPod in recovery mode.

From that, restore.

When you plug it into the computer does it start to charge??

If not could be that the cable is faluty the one with my iPhone has to be played around with for the computer to see it at times.

Are you connecting it directly to the computer or via a usb hub. If a hub, then try connecting directly to the computer.

Have you tried plugging it into a mains charger - to test the cable. I've had a cable fail on me so it must be tested.

If you know the cable to be good then I would suggest trying to connect to another computer - any computer. It will quickly be obvious that it has been recognised - or not. If not, then the ipod is knacked.

Can your computer recognise other usb devices that are plugged in?

To summarise... Test the cable. Test the ability of your computer to recognise any device via usb. Test the ipod elsewhere. Then, and only then, you will know which bit to throw through the window.

Your not having much luck at present are you?

Please tell me you haven't booked this years holiday in an Middle Eastern / North African country.
