iPod Docking Station/Speaker?

Hi All,

Mrs Keith is looking for a portable iPod speaker/docking station.

She will be using it at home and at work to do presentations/teaching

She has a few requirements.....

1. It has to be loud, capable of filling a large room with sound without any distortion

2. Has to be easily portable.

3. Run off mains and batteries

Anyone got any suggestions for a decent one that fills those requirements?

I bought an iHome IP45 which fits all those points. It seems to have been replaced by the IP57 - but it ain't cheap at over £80.

Any body else got any suggestions?

Bose! Pricey but very good. They do a portable version of the sound dock.

Many have sold on eBay for on and within £30 of your budget.

If she can get away with mains only, then there's the regular SoundDocks, but I would probably steer you towards the Audyssey (South of Market) Audio Dock.
 
its good to hear that I am not the only one who doesn't like Bose - the initial sound is 'impressive' but they do not make good music at all - they do however, market themselves very well....
Sorry that's not much of a help for Mrs Keith - the only ipod dock speakers I know of are AudioEngine which are hardly likely to be suitable.
 
Maybe I should just clarify I am not looking to go the eBay or second hand route, this has to be able to be bought from a mainstream physical/online retailer.

Also £150 is the absolute top end of the budget so suggesting items that are well over is a real non starter

How large is the space that your wife will be using it?

Also, would it just be an iPod that will be played through it, it would there ever be anything else?

Average classroom size, whatever that is

She just wants to play her iPod through it as far as I am aware
