Ipod AC Charger.... or is it?

Can anyone help me here please. After making one mistake I dont want to make it twice.

I wanted a charger for my ipod nano that would charge it from the wall............ie, an AC wall charger.

I bought from ebay (uk, not HK) but it turned out to be just an AC power supply.........not a charger. (ie, if your battery was half full when put on it would be the same when unplugged)

if I try again I dont know how I can make sure it really WILL charge it.

Has anyone got one that they can recommend as being the correct item.. .without it being expensive please (ie, not made by APPLE!) :D
 
Have you tried leaving it plugged in overnight with the ipod in sleep mode? I bought my ex an el cheapo ipod charger off ebay and it worked fine, albeit a little slow. I also thought ipods charged up via the usb port on a computer, if you have that option?
 
No i will just be using the wall. Perhaps i will give it another go...............oh sceptical me!! :D
 
I ended up buying the Apple one, a bit pricey ***
 
I bought one when I first bought an iPod. It charges quickly even if the iPod is on.
Also got one in the box when I bought the iPhone, if I'm honest though I rarely use them and charge from my laptop via the USB.
 
Same for me just use the USB charger, or it gets charged in the car via the dock I have in there.
 
So does mine usually but i am going to be in a situation where it will be played thru another stereo unit and joined by an audio cable only... its only a one-off so i dont want to go mad with the price.
 
How long will it be used for, I plug mine in work like that and it lasts for 2 days normally without needing a charge.
 
if it's a one off. Does that mean you'll not be needing it after ?

I can lend you one of my apple mains chargers if that's the case.
