iPhone --> Samsung Switch

Don't do it!..my wife opted for a Samsung galaxy s4 at the time I went for an iPhone 5s..she hates the Samsung and p***es me off by keep asking "whats wrong with my phone"..

Robin
I agree with you Robin for exactly the same reasons. I've always had an iPhone since 4 when work got rid of the Blackberry, another brick I'm glad to see the back of. The other half always had an iPhone and was quite happy with it until one day she comes back from the shops with a Samsung G s4. Now its all, how do I do this or that. It wont work or some other BS. Drives me up the wall. Meanwhile, my iPhone and I get on just fine.

I use an iphone for my own phone and a Galaxy Alpha for my work and get along with both.

In my opinion this is similar to the Nikon-Canon argument, both will do the job just fine in slightly different ways, just pick the one that feels the nicest and works the way you like!

For quite some time I had both an Android and an iPhone and I always just felt that the Android was too klutzy and awkward at doing things whilst more things seemed logical and efficient on an iPhone. I put it down to the fact that Android tries to be everything for everyone whilst Apple say 'do it our way'. Whilst arguably restrictive, it does keep things on the straight and narrow.

I would state the exact opposite to be honest, stock Android (5.0 and above) is now very intuitive whereas IOS7 and 8 now appear quite messy. I use both (iPhone for work, Android for personal) and would say they are now more or less equal to the point that I'm no longer bothered.

Agreed that Windows Phone is very intriguing, just need some good devices for it now...

It was kinda driven towards BYOD but because the variations on Samsung VS Sony VS others differed it just wasn't great, at least with Apple the internal structure even though users can be a release behind was the same...as i said very subjective really, some like ford cars some like Vauxhall, get whatever meets your needs.

But knowing your an apple user its a harder switch i found personally....plus i have a gazillion apps i tend to buy in bed and never use LOL

Wherever BYOD is in place it would be best to utilise MDM, which then unify the management into 1 portal or application, at which point the pain of multiple devices and configurations can be massively reduced.

Those are interesting thoughts Neil. Strangely, whilst having lived in the world of Apple for a few years now I keep wanting to check out a Surface Pro and a Windows phone!

I'm on the verge of purchasing a Surface Pro, but waiting patiently on a Surface Pro 4 announcement...

Mobdro. Only available on android. End of discussion :)

It's not a good thing for users to have apps limited to certain platforms. Making people go with something they might not want.

I've had both but now firmly in the android camp simply on price and the hardware.

Apple way to expensive, no support for SD card memory, integrated batteries not user replaceable.

I think the OS's are similar to the average individual.

i went from the iPhone 5 to the galaxy s6 a couple of months ago and being honest I wish I hadn't now. I got a really good deal on the Samsung hence the switch but I find that it just doesn't feel as refined as the iPhone. The OS is cumbersome, and the screen isn't as responsive as I would have hoped either. The whole more power in the galaxy handset is a little bit mythical too, yes it does have a higher hardware spec, but the OS uses it so inefficiently that it really is no faster than the iPhone in real world use. Battery life like all smart phones is crap no matter which you opt for so just expect to charge at least daily and you won't be disappointed lol. It would be wrong for me to say I don't like the s6, it does have some features I really like (it is like having access to advanced settings on a computer by default so you can configure things more than iOS), but it just isn't as refined as the iPhone.

I've shared my music over several platforms too.
I liked my iPhone, but didn't particularly like iTunes.
I can drag and drop any music/movie content onto my android very easily using the micro sd card. No iTunes required, and that's one of the things I like about my android phone over my iPhone.
I'm still an apple user with my mac and ipad though
You can drag and drop with iphone, only problem is you need an app to do it, I use iFiles which works flawlessly.

"That" doesn't make you weird.

We were trying to exchange pictures on an SD card to an iPhone. The iPhone user said our SD card reader wouldn't work. And when we used her Apple SD card reader, it couldn't differentiate the folders on the card containing hundreds of pictures. The iPhone user told us that it doesn't "do" folders. There might be an app for that but she didn't think know of one. So we gave up.

Do iPhones have the equivalent of widgets yet? All I saw was a grid of icons. I use weather, podcast and calendar widgets on android to immediately get information without opening any apps.
