iPhone OS 3.00 is here at last... :-)

search is a good idea, mms still not working though.

From o2's site......

I've got a Pay Monthly iPhone and just downloaded 3.0 OS software from iTunes. But picture messaging is not working, what do I do?

For Pay Monthly customers we'll set you up for picture messaging automatically shortly after you upgrade to the new iPhone OS 3.0 software.

If you don't receive a confirmation picture message from us about 10 minutes after you updated to iPhone OS 3.0 software then text "MMS" to 1010 for free. We'll set up picture messaging for you.

If you have a Pay Monthly iPhone 3G but don't have a Pay Monthly iPhone tariff you'll need to change the APN settings on your iPhone so that mobile internet and picture messaging work. Here's how:

‘How to change your settings if you want to use an iPhone on Pay Monthly but you don't have a Pay Monthly iPhone tariff’

For animated help around how to change your iPhone settings please click here

Alternatively, please contact customer services (the number is on your bill) to discuss options to move to one of our iPhone tariffs.

Mms still don't work for me either and I've sent the mms text to o2 :-(

my apps aren't updating either, must be demand.

ive had it installed from about half 6 and about 8 hours later the mms still hasnt activated :(

Must be I guess Brian as mine updated automatically almost straight away after the upgrade... :D ... bet that makes you feel so much better... :naughty:

:p

Slightly underwhelmed by the update here too. Copy and paste and MMS, great but can't say I feel its a groundbreaking update.

I have seen a couple of sites say that the new calendar format the phone can support means that you can sync with Google calendar, I already was able to do that though!?

Congratulations, iPhone users! You now have features that other phones have had for three or four years! :p

I was so looking forward to this update. I was like a kid on the night before Christmas. Now that I have it I'm wondering what all the fuss was about.

Maybe it'll be a slow burner and I'll come to love it in time.

I still don't have MMS working either despite sending MMS to 1010.

I've just got up this morning and my iPhone is about half way through updating.

EDIT: All done, MMS was set up virtually instant, Spotlight is a good idea

Am I the only one that very nearly got caught out 'cos I have a pin code to enter on start-up...

When it reactivates the sim it doesn't much like the pin and if you're not watching it there might be an issue... ... had to remove from dock, let if finish sorting itself, enter pin and re-dock to validate... :suspect:

If anyone else uses this I would consider taking it off while you upgrade... :D

:p
I wish I read that last night! I sat there for an hour thinking that it was taking ages, then as soon as undocked and redocked it it was working.

Updating mine tonight as went to Take That last nite.... hopefully the rush would have died down by then.!!

Looking forward to it..... BTW what is the Spotlight function people mention above.?

its basically a search too that searches everywhere on your Iphone.

See here

Still havent got my MMS working :(

I sent the text, nothing. I called them up, and the adviser said that not all of the network is ready for MMS yet... should be live tomorrow with the launch of the 3G S

Not that I have any picture messages I actually need to send right now, but I'd like to test it lol

Excellent - how was TT... ... Jill keeps on about going... :D

Good luck with the upgrade...

Spotlight is a full-on search facility added to the iPhone... :)

:p

You know when you begin to think you are the only person in the world without an i-phone! :shake:

Judging by the activity on Twitter last night talking about the update, I think you probably are lol

It's another fine example IMO of the Apple publicity bandwagon hoodwinking a lot of people in to thinking it was going to be something supremely exciting when, in fact, it's just Apple playing catch up with the functionality of the device.

Nothing to get excited about at all IMO

Aawwww poor Yv... :(

Not sure I can remember that far back though... :D

Go get yourself one on Friday girl... :naughty:

 minutes after typing this I got a succession of 3 messages

1. We know you are still waiting to send pictures messages.. blah blah... we are working as fast as we can

2. You cant send MMS yet, we are working on it now

3. You can now send MMS messages

:D Welcome to about 5 years ago :) :p

Just had a text from o2

basically they are working on getting picture messaging set up and will hopefully have it sent to me soon.

looks like demand has outstripped resource:D

Thanks for that Venomator.

Used to hate TT back in the day but think they're good now and it was best show I have ever seen. OUTSTANDING,AWESOME etc etc.!!

Sorry for the slight highjack people.!

Is Tethering working on the new OS3 or will it only work on the new firmware.?

If so, is it a paid-for extra to O2 or not.?

Can you hook up your iPhone to your camera, and download pictures to the iPhone then to the Web (eg Flickr)?

The iPhone is tempting me...

I have seen a couple of sites say that the new calendar format the phone can support means that you can sync with Google calendar, I already was able to do that though!?

I'm just playing with that now, it is ideal if you don't use Gmail or any other Google services (ie I have my own email accounts), so now the shared calendars I use can be chaged straight from my phone, I find it one of the more useful updates tbh.

This is where I don't know the difference as I was doing that on the old version

Oh and each MMS message is the cost of 4 normal text messages off your allowance.

Bit's I like so far.
Text forwarding and editing is good, cut and paste is good. Shake to shuffle is a bit gimmicky.

But then I mostly use mine as a PDA, phone, photo portfolio and entertainment device, so I'm still happy. Forwarding of texts is a great move forward.

Shake to shuffle doesn't work when the iphone is locked. I have mine set to lock after a minute, so its a bit pointless that I have to unlock it to shake it to shuffle. I may as well just hit next!

I can see why you have to unlock it, as it could be shaken unwittingly i guess.

I have an iphone 3.0 question that some of you lovely peeps may be able to advise me on...

I was always lead to believe that to 'quit' an application you held down the home button for 10 secs, and to 'close' an application you just clicked the home button.

However... in OS 3.0 holding down the home button does nowt. So I can only leave an app by clicking the home button.

Anyone got any comments on this? Does it mean my apps are all still open in the background? Is there no difference between close and quit now? Or have I just been mislead from day 1?

I just assumed the apps closed on a click of the home button. But I guess that's where not reading the manual and jumping straight in falls down.

Good and interesting Q though, is there a way of seeing what apps are running?
