Yes
I have an iPhone 3G (3.1.2) and recently have noticed an issue when syncing music.

When i'm listening to music, alot of the tracks seem to jump/skip a fair bit. I would say this happens to every other track which is put on there :(

Never used to have this problem, so can't see why a software update would work at all.

At first i thought it might have been because i was doing other stuff on the laptop whilst syncing the music. So i decided to sync again, making this the only running task on the machine.

Has anyone had this problem in the past? :bang:

Does it happen when you're doing other stuff with the phone? Sounds like the phone itself is struggling to get enough CPU to play the tracks, rather than an issue with the validity of the files.

Do the tracks play OK in iTunes on your computer?

I dont think its the phone, as its always the same point on the track :(

Plays fine on the computer.....

i had this with an ipod once, i ended up taking all of the music off then redoing it all.

Do you mean just re-syncing the lot? If so, i've tried that :(

Might just swipe the songs and add again from scratch....

p.s. i hate this itunes/syncing malarky!! why can't they just have drag and drop!! :(

I'd go for a full restore which you can do in iTunes. Obviously once everything is sync'd. Sorted out a problem I had. You'll get it back exactly as it was before.

if your running 3.1.2 then a restore in itunes may b****r up your jailbreak running that OS i assume it's jail-broken.

if it's softwear unlocked as well this may cause problems, go for a soft reset first.

It does have drag & drop. Just make sure Sync Music is unticked and you can drag & drop music straight to your iphone

Really??

Have to try it this way then, its too much of a chore syncing everytime - i get way too lazy! :naughty:

Cool Marc, I'll hopefully get round to doing it sometime this year! ;)

I've also read somewhere that Zonealarm could be the problem, so i might try disabling that next time and syncing.....

Marc,

I'm just trying this out now. I have unticked sync music, and ticked manually manage music...Now, when i try and drag/drop a music folder onto my iphone, it doesnt allow me to do it....Comes up with a 'no entry - street sign' type of icon :(

Is there anywhere in particular i should be dropping the folder?

You should be able to drop it anywhere in your iphone section to the left as per below.

Thats what i was trying to do...This is what i get....

Are you dragging a whole folder? Also, is it direct from a folder on the hard drive or from iTunes?

Well - you learn something every day.

I doubt it will change my opinion about iTunes though -work of the devil himself! :gag:

Well i figured it out....I clicked the 'manage music' option, then synced the phone, swiping all the music on the phone. But for some reason, this option was unticked after the sync....ticked it back up, and i can now drag and drop! :)

I cant believe i've gone for around a year without knowing this!

Thanks for the inside info Marc! :D

CT - Agreed! iTunes is a load of dog poo!! :(

thats the only annoying thing about the iphone, for such a music orientated company they have poor interfaces, moving of songs and hell its a chore just to have an mp3 ringtone lol, jailbreaking is a must if not only to allow you to use the phone to its potential

Right,

Experiencing problems once again dragging and dropping music! :(

I've now upgraded to the iPhone 4, which has the latest firmware, and i also have the latest version of iTunes.

I can no longer drag and drop....I just get the little round symbol as i did previously :(

This happens whether i am trying to drag and drop from the computer or from within iTunes itself.

'manually manage music' is selected in the summary section of iTunes.....

Anybody have any ideas?

it was a brand new phone, so shouldnt need a reset....

Could try re-install of itunes, but for the time being have had to sync my music the old way! :(
