Hi guys.

Having just re-installed Windows on my PC, I have downloaded iTunes again, but there's obviously no music which is on my iPhone in iTunes.

I cannot figure out a way to download the music from the iPhone to iTunes.

Is this possible?

TIA, Andy

When I bought new lappy none of my music was on it from my itouch. I plugged in the itouch and it syncd with the new lappy - had to go into itunes and log into my account and in that section add new computor.

No, you cannot transfer music from the phone to iTunes, only the other way round.

<<edit>> I believe you can re-synchronise any songs bought through the iTunes store back into your iTunes library once you have signed in and authenticated your iTunes account on the new iTunes installation. What you can't do is drag songs you ripped from CD back into th iTunes library. I assume this is to stop you going round someones house and giving them your whole music collection for free.

Thanks guys.

Somehow I just knew that someday I regret buying an Apple product :annoyed:

There are apps such as copypod which will allow you to copy music from ipods to the pc...

for legal reasons (file sharing etc) you cannot copy off of an ipod/iphone/itouch officially.

to be honest you should of backed up all of your data before reinstalling windows. presumably you saved off all of your my docs?

this. used it with great sucess. although not free, its better than losing all of your music.

TBH no I didn't back it up.
I automatically assumed that you could put it back onto itunes without any bother.

I was indeed wrong then......

Do a search for "ipod to pc transfer" on utube. Recently moved my tunes-images-video from my old ipod to my new laptop (new install of Itunes) and then to my new Itouch, it can be done manually within windows explorer.

For some reason Itunes won't do it as far as I know,

It has a DMG file extension...
And although id rather fry myself in hot oil rather than use one...Isnt that a MAC OS file extension?

I had this recently when I upgrade to Win7, I had to deauthorise my computer & then sync or transfer my stuff over, apple make it bloody difficult, why the heck they cant just ask you if you have upgraded or bought a new PC I don't know, would make it alot simpler.

Answered for me :D
Cheers!

Even downloaded and tried the file (without success obviously).

Anyway, mission accomplished.
I used Pod to PC. A free and easy to use piece of software. Job done.

Thanks for all the help and advice

Thanks for that info, may come in handy one day.

Its been a while since I did this as I dont have windows anymore but I recall a couple of years ago same thing happened to me. To fix I went to control panel and enabled show hidden files, connect ipod and browsed it using explorer (so dont open itunes). Within the file structure there is a folder that contains all the music and they are named like this 'FWXYJ". Just copy those files onto your computer and then drag and drop them into iTunes and away you go.

Like I said it has been some time since I did this so not too sure if this still applies to iPod's.
