Any recommendations?

Having dropped my iPhone 6 down the toilet today (thankfully it appears to have recovered!) I'm thinking I should really insure it against accidental loss. House insurance would cover it for accidental, less the excess, but I've already made a claim on it this year for a damaged lens and was thinking that maybe standalone phone insurance might be the way to go...

I'm thinking you need to stop taking it to the loo with you :D

As Neil says, some banks do offer this insurance - certainly worth a check

Barclays charges £7 a month for the tech pack, they repaired mine recently but wasn't too happy with it really as they gave it a screen that was all scratched and I had to pay 50 excess... Switched now to the Amex Insurence and that's a bit more expensive at £12 but there is no excess and that insures anything up to 3k I think, with no limit on it.

I wound not ever take out the networks on Insurence though, as that seems insanely expensive!

£12 per month seems a lot for a phone as after 2 years you will have paid out £288 which is probably almost the value of a 2 year old phone!

some banks offer it as an addon on some accounts.

Don't believe mine does, but thanks, I'll check.

You know I always wondered how on earth people managed to do this. Now I know. :-)

Yeah, I don't think I'd pay that much.... But I can't go round tossing a £600 phone about the place with no cover.

£6.99 pm for an iPhone 6 64GB with £50 excess. That's no bad actually, thanks.

your welcome, it comes recommended by that bald guy on the gadget show :-)

I've opened up my own can of worms here I think.... I found this report which recommends Insurance2Go and if I paid upfront using that code I could get damage AND loss cover for £60 per year, or £5 a month.

Then again if I go for that Nationwide Flexaccount that's also mentioned there, it's £10pm and includes phone cover for me and the missus, and the youngest when she is home from uni, and travel insurance for the year..... and 3% interest!

I think dropping my phone down the toilet might actually result in me shifting my bank account!

Thats my bank, you also get breakdown too :)

Been reading up on it more. Looks like a no-brainer for me. I reckon the interest alone would probably cover half the fees.
