It is very very good what he's managed to do with the phone camera. But he's still used a hell of a lot of studio equipment, lights, modifiers, tripod, studio space etc. If you were to add up the cost of that lot a budget DSLR would be cheap really.
iPhone 3Gs 8GB is £419 on Apples website.
D3000 kit on Amazon is £335.
20D or even 350D with 50mm f/1.8 (about £250 used) would pretty much destroy it. The video explained that they could have used cheap lighting solutions (cheap reflectors, floodlights, bed linen, etc). Now the trouble with iphone is that the image still lacks definition after a number of hours of photoshopping. 20D 50mm kit with basic lights could take care of the same job in an instant with only minimal tweaking required. The point is that iphone image was extremely expensive in terms of time.
