iPhone 7

Phone I ordered at 8.03 on Friday I've been told I'll get mid November.. Come on Apple, what you playing at! LOL! In going to go down the different colour route as it'll have a case on it anyway.

Friday 16th delivery for me. 128GB 7 Plus in silver.

Did they change your delivery date or was it like that already? Which one did you order?

Having just, a few Months, moved to an Apple 6S phone from a long time Android usage (Mainly Samsung and Sony) I find that the best thing with the 6s is it just works out of the Box.

A few simple settings and Hey Presto, not multiple settings and wondering if you will get what you want. Reception is better, Camera is fantastic, onboard Camera App is pretty good, etc.

Had a few Samsungs hoping they were going to get better but actually they got worse and nearly drove me mad, preferred Sony Android Version but the last Phone had dreadful reception problems.

So Apple from now on for me, the few Android advantages listed are not that important, for something that works.

I must say, I am not at all suprised when I hear people move to apple when their experience of android is a Samsung phone. Hateful things!

Without digressing from the main thread too much i think half the issues with android phones boils down to the bloatware that the likes of Samsung, LG and Sony place on the OS than necessarily the device itself.
I have always found vanilla android to be quite a pleasing experience when i have been in a position to use it.

I'd go along with that too - plus add that some Android users also bloat their phones with all kinds of useless junk that's running in background killing performance. I don't know whether iOS also struggles when a phone is full of apps running in the background, or if it's better at resource management and kills un-needed processes. My first Android was an HTC desire (still have it, Cyanogen) and I'm still using the Motorola RAZRi that I bought in Jan 2012 (still does about 3 days/charge, runs acceptably most of the time except when updating apps).

I do wonder if we're going to experience a mobile phone event horizon at some stage (for HHGTTG fans). Many of the guys here in Turkey who are CLEARLY earning peanuts still have flagship smartphones.

Cheap housing, 8% interest rates, cheap food, no need to earn mega bucks :)

Stuff like that is supposed to be expensive here, but apparently everything is on tick - no-one can afford to buy outright so the use credit finance. It's not how they have them, but why they do when something a little less sparkly & thin would also serve acceptably.

So did my android!

Like any hardware, its whether a specific human is any good at working the device.

I'm sure there'll be an abundance of iphone 7's will be listed on the net very shortly when the novelty and credit card bills drops through the door. :)

Good devices aren't reliant on the human being ;) Take my Galaxy S7 Edge, this morning it wouldn't let me make any calls what so ever. Every time I went into contacts and clicked on the dial button, it crashed. As a human who is good working the device I rebooted it and it started to work. In the mean time I was 3 minutes late for my conference call. Sorry but if the basics aren't working I think it is rather unfair to blame operator error. Next error of today was that the calendar did the same thing, each time I tried to open it it crashed. And again a reboot fixed it. That is twice in one day a reboot required on a top of the range current Android device. Not a great experience.

I'd agree - very poor, and unacceptable on a device at that price

Based on previous experience of owning both Apple and Samsung, the Apple devices seem to hold value more.
Perhaps not true of the most recent models, I haven't checked but older Apple models seem more experience than the equivalent Samsung.

Anyone on EE had a shipping notification yet? For the iPhone 7?

Thats the exact same reasons I stick with iphones, get a bit boring at times but all I have to do is use my wife`s android somehing for a few mins and I`m ok with apple again:) Just my opinion

Same here. I've got my Samsung S7 Edge, a top of the range Android, and whilst good in many way, it is also so frustrating that it doesn't always just work, the keyboard isn't great either, all these things on the sides look nice but you constantly touch them. One thing that is absolutely superb is the camera. But I want the basics like phone calls and texts to work well. I'm sure with tweaking it could be switched off, improved and what not, but to me that is not good enough. Being able to change is good, but out of the box it should just work for those who really can't be bothered with tweaking.

Both my phones are now stating 4/10-10/10 for delivery :(

Ah well....

That has always been the old adage though that those that just want a phone to work choose Apple and those that like to tinker go with Android. However that is not an excuse for a phone working as intended out of the box.

The one reason I will always stay with Android is I like to tinker and have it looking and operating to my tastes.

pot luck then I guess...... its the same with the watch series 2 too I think... :(

bah..... what phones did you pre-order? just out of interest....
7 Plus Black 128GB
7 Jet Black 128GB

Ordered at 08:08 I think. I'm not too worried about having it on launch day, but would like it as soon as possible.

Order at 8.03 on launch and get delivery date pushed to November. Cancelled.
Update to ios10 and brick both phones and iPad!
Install malware (iTunes) on PC to "restore" i.e. Fix what they messed up.
Test ios10... god it's only added features that can be used in the UK seem to be making messages more appealing for children and teenagers.
Even the ex CEO of Apple is keeping his 6S plus until the 10th anniversary phone comes out next year.. says it all!
What was going to be my yearly ritual with a smile has resulted in my disliking the handset, it's new OS features and the BS fed on launch about best this and best that and dslr like quality.. either they are morons or the bulk of the public are. I don't know what's scarier!

I had to chuckle at the dslr quality bit

Out of interest, what features of iOS10 can't be used in the UK?

Why such anger and lashing out at everyone?

The world doesn't end when you don't get a device on launch day :god:

ITunes isn't Malware, fair enough if you don't like it but to describe it as Malware is just as childish as you seem to think the iOS 10 update is.

I was running the beta since July and think it is a solid update.

Ps. Isn't the former ceo of apple dead ;)

I'm not lashing out at everyone. A small vent headed at a conglomerate like Apple is all. I'm just bemused that a company that only has to test on what.. 12 devices? Can brick peoples phones on software launch and then secretly update to a version xx.1 quietly in the background an half hour later. If they managed to do that then they must have known about it prior but released anyway knowing a fix was around the corner. That's poor!
iTunes is malware. It can't be fully removed and it monitors everything you do within it and your devices.
There's been more than two CEOs at Apple, 6 if memory serves.

I've got a 6s and holding out for the 8 when my contract is up. My next car must have Apple Car Play, it looks amazing.
Yes indeed. Fingers crossed that when is build it has the 2017 spec with Apple Car Play integrated.

I think the new Volvo S90 and new Mercedes W213 have that intergrated. Given I will end up in either of those cars I am in the money. My present W212 E350cdi doesn't and it would make a good car excellent

Our current X166 doesn't have it either, but that is nearly 3 years old now. We've got an X253 on order and whilst the current model year doesn't have it, the rumours are that the 2017 update (build November onwards) does come with the upgrade as standard when you have the Command Online as part of it. Which is what we ordered as part of the Premium Plus pack together with the Burmester surround sound upgrade. Fingers and toes crossed :) But if not, then so be it.

Fingers crossed for you. Its a really nice feature having seen it. I suspect the 205, 213, and that generation of car will have it standard. I know Volvo with their new SPA platform is very keen to fit it.

Another good reason to go OnePlus (y)
Agreed.....they are good phones.
Every android phone I get starts life with all the usual bloatware crap but eventually it ends up with vanilla android - usually cyanogenmod.....and it makes the user experience 10 times better.

I think we need an android specific thread where we can discuss all things to do with Android e.g. Nougat, custom ROMs, theming etc etc so that we dont interupt the continuity of the Apple thread(s).
