iPhone 5 restored from iPhone 4 backup - No messages?

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anybody can help out.

I backed up my iPhone 4 and then plugged in my new iPhone 5, and selected restore from iTunes. I chose the new backup that I had just made, and everything seems to have come across apart from messages and whatsapp messages.

Any ideas why, or suggestions?

Does iTunes backup the messages? I thought it was just for music / videos / pics.....

I lost all my messages in my swap from 3 to 5 today.

Still trying to figure how to get my iPhone apps off my iPad onto my 5 but not had chance to play with the phone properly yet.

very strange. itunes normally backs up everything. evertime ive changed iphone and restored from a backup my messages have always remained

like today i restored a backup of my 4 to my new 5 and all my messages and whatsapp messages are still present like from the first day i got my iphone 3 when it first came out.

make sure your signed into itunes when the phone or ipads connected.

make sure the computer has been authorised.

right click on the little iphone/ipad icon that shows up when you connect a device, click on transfer purchases.

after thats done, you can use the tabs at the top to choose what to sync with the new device.
