I'm hoping to pick one up at lunch time, if they haven't sold out. :thinking:

Went in to the O2 store yesterday and said they can't do anything until the day of release, which seems stupid. Not even fill all the paperwork out for collection today.

Picked mine up from O2 at 8:30 this morning. Seems pretty sweet, but then I am upgrading from a 2G. I lost/had stolen my 2G at the weekend.

The thing that I found really cool was just registering mobileme. All my mail, contacts, calendar just appeared, very slick.

Compass doesn't seem to be too accurate, think I need to calibrate it or something.
 
Look out for the Tom Tom software, for the 3Gs ( not sure if it's compatibly with the 3G )

It could be the App the phone has been waiting for

Just one more thing, the store was doing steady bussiness, I was in there about 30 mins and they sold maybe 3 or 4 in that time. I would have thought there will be stock available tomorrow.
 
I thought my upgrade date was June 29th when I looked for my paperwork but then I realised that that paperwork was in relation to the 2G not the 3G (I took o2 up on their upgrade offer) so now I have to wait till the upgrade date of 22nd Jan (but you can upgrade a month early with o2) so I should get one for christmas unless I wait till this time next year for a dual processor version !
 
What are the essential apps for us photographers?

iBird looks good, although not sure I would fork out £12 for something I will not use very often.

This is my first apple product so I have no means to compare.

So far it seems very slick.

A bit poor on the packaging side. I had to ring o2 to advise I had the iphone and keep my existing number (I am currently a PAYG customer. The iphone number was not recorded anywhere).

I had to use the iphone to call my landline and then dial 1471!

Just synchronising all my music.

It would normally be on the plastic card that the sim snaps out of but the sim is normally supplied inside the iPhone! I am sure it will be somewhere really obvious :)
 
Just found a really detailed review on gizmodo here.
The review includes vids of opening apps so you can see how much quicker it is. The camera upgrade seems to be fairly significant - nothing groundbreaking like samsung but still a vast improvement on the original 3g as it has a better AF and is up to 3megs.

I went to upgrade today and everywhere's sold out of the 16gb :(

Does anyone know if I can order online anywhere?
 
I'll be going to get my 3GS on Monday when I can finally upgrade my contract :D still unsure on whether to get white or black though.
 
Do you really notice the speed difference? I can't really justify a couple of seconds here or there for another £275!
 
i got one on payg to replace my 3g, partly because my 3g was jailbroken which slows it down a bit, but there is a definate speed difference betweeen the two of them. whether or not it justifys the price tag only you can decide though.
 
Hi guys Thinking about upgrading to the IPhone (it sounds like a great phone :)!!), whats the difference between the IPhone 3G and the IPhone 3G S? Sorry for asking a stupid question :lol:, not sure which one to upgrade to, they both sound good, any advive, much appreciated, thanks :)

Basically 3GS is faster, has a better camera with video and some other goodies in the form of Apps... :D


If you check Apple's iPhone site HERE it lists out the various features and if your cursor down a bit on the left you can then list out the 3G's features to compare for yourself... ;)

Got mine, as for the speed, compared to my 2G, I really haven't noticed that much of a difference apart from the web, but that's because it doesn't use the edge network and has 3G, so the iphone 3G is the same in that respect.. video is great though, and a better camera is always handy :)

If I was paying full price for it, I think I'd go for the 3G, but as mine was an upgrade, it only cost me £87 :D
 
I heard that was to do with certain aftermarket cases rather than heat...

I think black looks better anyway ;)
 
I was going to suggest taking it to the Apple store (they replace mine there and then when there was dust behind the glass) but seeing as you'll have voided the warrenty there I guess they wouldn't...

I don't think he's voided the warranty. You can restore jailbroken phones back to legit software versions iirc.
