Hey all,

Not sure if I'm allowed to post this here? My apologies if not, feel free Mods to lock and delete if it breaks the rules.

Situation.

I have purchased an iphone 3G that was previously on O2, and is now unlocked by O2.

It has 4.2.1 firmware

Can it be jailbroken and what jailbreak do I use if it can please?

ps. my confusion has arisen since on a site detailing redsnow, it noted that iphones on 4.2.1 that rely on a "carrier unlock" should not use redsnow, and I'm unsure what a "carrier unlock" is exactly.

Any advice really appreciated :)
Thanks guys

Danny

Check out iclarified.com for tutorials.

I think you can do it directly off your phone. Have a look at jailbreakme.com

There's a jailbreak called redsn0w that pretty good, you can use it to jailbreak untethered, directly on your iPhone...just works like a normal app...clever really!

Don't have the link to hand, sorry...but google either redsn0w or untethered jailbreak.

Also , if you do jailbreak, you must change your ssh filesystems password, as they are all the same at default...if you don't it's really easy for hackers to access your iPhone/iPad/iPod when on a public network.

Google cultofmac for instructions, it's simple to do.
