Have you got it guys?

It's supposed to have some major improvements with regard to crashing apps and better battery life.

I'm installing now :)

It took me 2hrs to install. The first backup took over 1hr. I went out and just as I came back it was done. That was another hour later. Quicker, pah! Seems ok so far.

I'm back ... ... That's one mother of a download for a itsy bitsy phone ...

Cheers for the HU Brian ...

Got my 3G a few weeks back too ... ... all over again ... :D

:p

Pete

mine took no more than 30 mins to download and and install

any idea what was the problem?

Ven Glad you got the 3G at last

This update is also supposed to remind you that you have sms too, handy if you've not woken it for a wee while.

It was the initial backup. Took over 1hr. Dunno what happened after as I went out. Came back and it was finishing another backup.

Mine's nearly done too ... :suspect: ... 25 minutes or so tops ...

Use SMS all the time but could really do with MMS ... :D

:p

theres an app that'll send as mms iirc Rog

and people can send you mms now but you need to go to the O2 site to view them.

I'd love to see flash support added, theres loads of websites that won't show without it.

Agree about the flash thing - that and not being able to forward SMS you receive.
Think I'll skip this update for a bit. Enjoying the streaming video, camera zoom, voice alerts for email and texts, dual iTunes libraries and different themes at the moment.

Be interested to hear your thoughts on battery life after a few days on this firmware though.

As soon as they give you Flash support you'll all be complaining about the battery life :)

I don't think it's a bad phone tbh, it's niggles are no worse than it's symbian based rivals.

Bug fixes and support are much better though :)

Certainly seems to be an improvement! SMS and Contact lag have gone and my signal seems to be a lot more consistent. Backups are now a LOT faster and installing apps no longer locks my phone up for ages (and when updating they now retain their location).

All in all was well worth updating for.

The update took 20 mins on one phone and nearly 30 on t'other.

I can't say I've had any real issues with this phone apart from some problems sending and receiving emails via pop3 accounts, especially when away from a wifi connection.

I'm just waiting for cut n paste.

mine took ages download, then once finished i got an error, then my phone flashed up saying it was activated and was updated, must have been alot of people downloading.
noticed there is a little circle on the top left hand corner, anyone know what it is?

Chris

they've changed the signal indicators

We now have an o for the slow ass connection instead of the little dot , the edge symbol is just an E now too

even at its worst it is still the 2nd best phone i've had (the original iphone was much more reliable IMHO)
but if i buy something from apple i expect it to be reliable and trustworthy out of the box. if i wanted 3 updates before it worked properly then i would buy something with windows installed :)

at last you can select a non 24 hours clock (never knew why it was always greyed out before). But the non 24 hours clock on the screen saver page is massive!! so i turned it back to 24 hours

I downloaded it last night, it didn't seem to take too long to update, but I've got about 4Gb free on it at the moment, so that probably helps.

I haven't noticed an difference tbh, but I didn't have problems with calls dropping out before. How do you get the sms notification to repeat? I've not been able to find that?

AFAIK if you don't wake it after an SMS has landed it'll remind you on it's own.

Not sure i'm going to get a lot of use from the genius play list thing though
