iPhone 14 Pro camera?

Ahh right, I think we’ve been talking two different things  Yes, I believe it can only do ProRaw on it’s own, if you want jpeg too it has to be raw. I’ve not found any yet that can shoot ProRaw and jpeg simultanously.

I’m still waiting stock of the 14 pro so it’s going to be a while before I get to try these out :headbang::D

It shouldn't be too long now as deliveries are approximately 21days from ordering, at least they are for the 1"4 Pro Max".

I'm on the upgrade system so it won't allow me to order until there's stock in store unfortunately. I can get a 1tb one, but I don't need that storage and don't want to pay the extra just because I'm impatient ;)

Well wouldn't you believe it, just checked again and now picking the phone up tomorrow afternoon

@G.K.Jnr. Just having a play with the 14 pro and you can have both jpeg and raw. It doesn't seem obvious but if I edit the photo first on the phone it save a new file (jpeg) and then if I airdrop the photo to my Mac and have "all photos data' on it sends a folder containing the jpeg and raw. What's even better is that if I transfer the raw to Lightroom it imports using the ProRaw profile and you can adjust the amount of "ProRaw processing that's applied" (although 0 doesn't appear to be truly 0), also if I swap to one of the Adobe profiles such as Adobe Standard it appears to be a pure raw file

I’ve had a 14 Pro Max since launch if you’d like me to take some shots, I can’t say I’ve seen a massive difference coming from the 13 Pro Max but I don’t print large photos.

Thanks but I've got the 14 pro now so am hoping to give the camera a good test soon.

I have to say I'm mighty impressed with the main camera on the new iPhone, the level of detail is insane and doesn't show any sign of the smearing/painterly effect you normally get with iPhone photos (especially SOOC jpeg). The only disappointment is that you can only get 48mp with ProRaw (even with 3rd party apps) and ProRaw still adds too much processing for my taste, especially HDR. That being said you can adjust it in LR to get it more natural looking, plus if you change the profile in LR from ProRaw to Adobe it appears to get rid of all the processing. The only downside is if you do this (or take the ProRaw slider to 0) the image is massively underexposed and you have to boost exposure by about 1.5 stops. However, this does not appear (in my brief testing) to affect the images and certainly doesn't introduce noise.

@G.K.Jnr. the Procamera app is a nice app to use, much more intuitive than Halide imo, thanks for the recommendation.

Just out of interest can anyone see a huge difference between the two photos above? The reason I ask is that I thought my eyes were pretty good at picking out image quality and it's something I'm very fussy about, but when my wife saw the screenshot above my wife said photo 'x' was clearly better as the bricks are more defined and the red/purple leaves on the plant at the bottom of the screen are much brighter and more colourful.
I don't see it myself, I see some subtle differences that tell me which is which but it doesn't leap out at me. I'm wondering if it's a case that I'm a bit blind to it as I've spent so long editing the photos to get them to match as closely as possible, or whether I need to get my eyes checked

Edit: actually looking at the screen from further back it's much easier to see the colour differences in the red purple leaves, that's the issue with laptops I guess you're right on top of the screen

Obviously not going to rival a proper camera, but for a phone I was quite impressed with the IQ I got with these yesterday (they look better/sharper on flickr)
