Refundable upon departure for visitors in many States.
I never do this as I can't help but feel if you file and claim it back at one end, you're basically telling them what you're bringing in and leaving it wide open to be charged import/vat when you land back over here. I'm happy enough taking the 5-6% hit and relishing in what was probably more than a 20% saving in the first instance![]()
I didn't know about that limit but is it really that strange?
In my instance, I was bringing a £900ish MacBook (with a uk value of about £1300) back with me so didn't feel it worth risking asking for £45 back then possibly having to pay up £160 in England.
Strange logic!
You are entitled to carry goods to the value of £390 into the UK from countries outside the EU duty-free.

All the talk of sales tax in the US and VAT being applied here when you land etc etc...
You need to add the cost of the trip in the 1st place - so unless you're already going, it's not worth it anyway!
Apparently apple are bringing out a budget version of either iphone or ipad or both
