Ipad3 event (New Apple stuff)

Why would anyone want to buy an iPad2 for £329 now ?

It's another product that just works in an Apple centric world.

Apple have never been ones to worry about what others do or how others operate. Personally, I can't stream video to my bedroom system - it's too far away to have a reliable interconnect. I need cables (or powerline in my case).

And who pays £15 for an HDMI cable these days  £3 and that's if you need a long one......

how do you know? Have you tried streaming a 30gb video to an appleTV?

I think you are just making these numbers up as you go along

how do I know what ? that streaming 6-10gb files is fine ? maybe because I do it on daily basis ?

Why the hell you have to be always so sarcastic in first place anyway ??

I'm not making up anything, and I expect some apologies from you.

I have in my collection LOTR extended edition and ripped to HDD. Return of the king has 30gb.

ipad2 price drop to £329 for 16gb wifi.

You have to be ****ed if you bought one in the last month

Dual-core Apple A5X custom-designed, high-performance, low-power system-on-a-chip with quad-core graphics
And? Chips like this are going into all sorts of consumer electronics devices these days... Except the processor is more powerful....

It's just their business model and it is a model that is working, and working very well indeed. Would you change if you are their Vice President? Look at how other companies who try to make everyone happy and look at their profits and look at Apple's profits.

Keeping things this way keeps the user with the product.
The annual refresh brings in new customers and entice existing users to upgrade.

All in all it generates money, lots of it. At one point last year Apple had more cash in their possession than the US Government can get its hand on.

Oh.. I agree. Apple are very shrewd business people.... no denying that. I'm not sure that's a good thing to be praising them for though.

Where my bedroom is compared to my router, I can't wifi stream a 4GB file successfully. Doesn't really matter if you can in your house, it wouldn't work for me....

arad - what makes you visit these threads about apple stuff? When you have no desire to buy anything apple?

Do you visit all threads of things you have no desire to buy? Mankini threads perhaps? :D

weird, sounds like you could do with a new router

I got the impression there was all that much new....

apple TV is awesome, take the damned thing with you and plug in for presentations, i have HDMI on laptop and can use that, but if the company pays for apple tv then its as good a solution as anything.

I have Ipad, and would now consider an upgrade, though might go for ipad2 rather than 3..

On the basis they're a business, why not?

You wouldn't say that if they were running a banking business now would you ;)

No. Someone has to add some balance to your one-sided fanboyism ;) :D

Nope. Just a smaller house.......

If they're behaving responsibly, not relying on taxpayer handouts and the like, then yes.

But that's a fallacious analogy, at best. What a bank does is no relation at all to what Apple are doing. You cannot argue that they are the most profitable and successful business on the planet right now.

And that's a good thing for the consumer?

And that's a good thing for the consumer?

It is good because it means that they continue to put r and d into new things, release products all the time which other companies then push their products past so it creates great competition and choice.

People who know no better buy android tablets, which is a shame for them, but at least they have a choice, shame they choose wrongly but there you go :D

Which is why Apple are trying to muscle out competitors with their patents. And if your money is in the bank, you aren't putting it into R&D are you...

You can't have it both ways ;)

And that's a good thing for the consumer?

They make products.

You like it, you buy it.

What is so complicated here? What is there to complaint about here? What is your problem with them exactly?

If Gordon Ramsey wants to use onions in his pasta, that is his choice, it is no concern of yours. If you don't like it, don't eat at his restaurants.

If Apple wants to make an iPad, they make an iPad. If you want one, buy it. If you don't want one, don't buy it.

I don't come to your house to moan about the lack of Apple products, why do you go into a thread and put down others who buy their's? I see this in all the message boards, I don't understand it. Is it jealousy? Is it pride? Their own pride that they refuse to buy Apple products so they have to go tell others who do and put down Apple products and their business as to if it makes them feel better?

I really don't understand it.

What I don't understand is how they manage to incorporate a "better than HD" IPS display into the new ipad yet their notebooks still have basic TN panel displays.

I still don't feel the need to replace my iPad 1. Pictures look pretty good on it, it does what I wanted and kind of feel that I'd regret at some point editing on the fly on iPad iLife.

I guess that proves I'm getting old :)

With the cash Apple have, actually they can. And are.

And if your money is in the bank, you aren't putting it into R&D are you...

You're right. They managed to get the worlds highest resolution display in a mobile device by some kind of dream one of them had. No r and d went into it, they are just that good.

As for patents, it's technical culture, everyone is suing everyone else for patent breech, you make it sound like these are the only ones.

Im trying to pre order 1 now, but the website is not playing ball

I agree. My next MBP must have a proper display for the price they cost!

Back to topic. The ipad does look tempting, but before parting with cash I will carefully evaluate if it can offer anything ground-braking in my workflow

Any ideas if it can print or has any level of weather proofing for use outdoors?
And the big question - wifi or 4G?

I see Apples Chattering Classes are at it again....

I see a troll being a troll.
You know it's funny. I actually read the thread and came on to add some value - it seems to me that the Apple fanboys can't stop to think that there are people out there who don't see the world in an Apple centric way as they have other priorities.

If you read my first post in the thread, all I said was it is a product that works well in an Apple centric world - the inference being it works less well if you're not Apple centric. Given we all have choice, it means to some people it will integrate seamlessly, to others it will be an expensive toy you'll have to jailbreak and wait for 3rd party software to do what you want it to - or reconfigure your network so it behaves in an apple friendly way.

TBH, I actually have no axe to grind other than to point out the opposing point of view is just as valid. Which it is.

Not everyone is out to get you you know ;)

Start a thread about it then. This one's about the new iPad which you're just derailing.

I never disagreed about it works in an Apple Centric world. I supported that by saying that is their business model.

P.s. These "others" that Jailbreak, out in the real world, they are few are far between. I know, I was one of them.

I have had my I-pad 1,since just after launch, use it everyday, on it now.
Didnt bother with 2,but will have a look at 3,but of of yet not a defo upgrade :)
