Ipad

No idea :)

But I have seen it mentioned in past threads in this section so try a search.

Use Handbrake. It's a cracking program that is really easy to use. I convert my DVDs using it, for playback on my iPad.

You can avoid itunes completely - I think the app is called avplayer or summat, and it will let you transfer files wirelessly too, along with playing avi files. Will check the apps name when I get home

Thanks folks, im assuming Handbrake is a program for the pc to convert then just add to itunes library?

handbrake is a program for your PC it very easy to use having a specific profile for IPad I use it alot. You will probably need a DVD ripping program as well to get your home movies from your personally produced DVD's onto your computer

Handbrake has just done a fantastic job on the mac converting game of thrones for me, plays nicely on the iPad and the ps3 :)

Does SmartConverter handle 5.1 or DTS audio? All of the converters that I have for mp4, m4v, mkv or avi files only seem to convert to stereo, which is useless if I want to convert a video for both my iPad and home cinema...

Good question..... I watch some converted stuff through my ps3 from a USB stick, pro logic :gag: is soooooooooo 1990

what's the timing from copying a dvd average film length and then process to the right file type?

Depends on the computer and the film tbh, each episode of game of thrones took about 30 mins to do on handbrake and they ended up at about 1.1gb each. A DVD can take a few hours, it's certainly not a quick process.

it was indeed, just got to wait till April now for series 2 :(
