I have an Ipad 2 16GB +3G. Im very happy with it, and have no huge desire to upgrade, but I have £47 worth of Tesco vouchers to spend, and with the exchange currently on, I could get £90 off a new Ipad of the same specs.
I got a great deal on this ipad by doing the same, plus 3% cashback through quidco. I paid about £180 below retail in all.

So, Is it worth the upgrade, I'd end up paying about £120 on top after selling my exsiting ipad and including the £90 exchange vouchers.
Is it worth it, or shall I hold off for something else?

if you look to sell your ipad 2 let me know, i'm in the market for one. :)

I don't know what you do but if you are a photographer then it's definitely worth the upgrade for the screen.

A few months ago I went to the apple store to compare the iPad 2 & 3 and noticed that of course the screen on the 3 was better but spent a long time mulling over which to buy as I didn't see such a big difference. I bought an iPad 3 in the end, simply because I knew it was better to buy newer hardware if possible.

Recently I borrowed a friends iPad 2 and was surprised when I saw the screen - I think because my eyes are so used to the 3's resolution it was a shock to see the other lower resolution screen- it seemed to me I could see every pixel on the screen! It's not something I noticed when I first looked at both iPads.

I'm not a pro photographer, but most of my spare time is spent doing photography related stuff. It would be handy to be able to edit RAW files on the go.
I do get annoyed trying to show people photos on this iPad 2 and they never look that good.

I also use OS maps extensively on here, so a better, clearer screen could be useful. The better video would also be of great use. Ive been watching camera labs videos on YouTube where Gordon is travelling the world with minimal kit and his videos recorded on his iPad look great.

I'm tempted I must admit.

The iPad is all about the screen, and the iPad3 screen is so much better than previous models, was a no brainer upgrade for me.

That said, I will be ditching the iPad as soon as I can get my hands on a Surface.

nope i wouldn't, not a chance.

upgrade from a 1 to a 3 absolutely. There's no way I'd upgrade from a 2 to a 3 unless it was going to cost me like £30. Yes the screen is better but that's it, i don't find it any faster and it is heavier. Keep your money to do an upgrade to a 4 next year

i compared my 2 to a 3 and loved 3's screen, it's just so beautiful and sharp.

but as said, new one is too heavy and not enough other upgrades that would make it worth the upgrade money.

if you want to edit RAW, you will need a larger capacity ipad. ipad 2 works perfectly fine with RAW files, just buy the iPhoto app.

Great advice all, thanks. Just what I needed. Think I'll hold off, although some of my tesco vouchers expire soon so might need to find something else to buy.
