Has anyone had any experience with using their iPad as a soft lighting tool? I know there will be much better things for the job, but currently I'm restrained to an iPad and YN560.

Below are a few examples of what I've done so far, but I feel a bit uninspired. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This last shot I found really hard to nail the focus, any suggestions on shooting transparent objects?

may feel uninspired but I like them ;)
 
Theres an app for the iPad that write letters. For lighting I prefer a led light used for video. 7dayshop sell the cheap ones

Thanks, I think everyone hits one of those mental blocks in photography, I just hit them a bit too frequently...lol

I downloaded that app, the one which writes words when doing long exposures. I find that because the iPad can't show a true black screen, it writes the letters, but they are still squared by a lighter shade of black than the surrounding :/

I'll have a look at the 7dayshop now, I've heard it mentioned but never gone on it.

Which app is that?
 
Don't think that one is around for download but I did have a free one which writes 2d letters on long exposures. When you see how it works it's kind of a clever but simple technique.

Typing from my iPad so can't see what the name of it is but will look in a second.

Liking the watch shot - apparent light source is big so lighting is soft. Good work :)

Have seen some really good ones while browsing flickr - can't remember if I favourited any....
 
as for focusing on a transparent object, dont you do something like put a cocktail stick in front of it so you have something to focus on? seem to remember it from water droplet shots?
