There was some discussion on such a connector a while back
http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=341315
I've lost my official ipad connector kit (probably turn up tomorrow after all this!) and after seeing a new version of the "unofficial " kit I though I'd try one.
Comes neatly boxed with quite detailed instructions:
I connected to my ipad and as mentioned in the instrctions this message comes up:
just pressing OK sends the message away and the device can still be used. Sorry, filthy ipad screen!
I tried an SD card from my Fuji X100, took a random shot and inserted it into the device:
a thumbnail immediately appears and it can be imported quickly:
I then connected the device to my 1D IV via a USB cable, nothing happens, zilch, so I guess it is really only good if you use SD cards although it may work on other bodies.
It will be good for me as on the 1D as I can write jpegs to an SD card (dual card slots) and so have a viewable back up when I'm away.
So if you use SD cards or have a dual slot capability this may be useful, all for the outrageous sum of £4.29.
