ipad camera connector problems

I have just acquired a camera connector for my ipad2. I have connected my Canon 50d using the usb cable but cannot download photos. I get a "not supported" message.

Any suggestions?
 
Card reader?
It must be able to see that as if it was an external drive.
 
When you plug in the camera it behaves as a media device and not a removable drive. They look similar when plugged into a pc but behave differently.
If you remove the card from the camera and connect it directly it should work fine.
 
I'm trying to connect Canon 50d camera to an Ipad 2 using an Apple Camera Connector Kit. The problem is that I keep getting a "not supported" message....the Ipad is not even recognising the camera is connected.

I cannot use a card reader as the Ipad does not give out sufficient power to the usb port to power a CF card reader
 
Update...all sorted and working ok.....nothing wrong with the connector, Ipad or camera, just me being a numbskull.
 
I have a couple of them, I download my 5d2 pictures in RAW to my ipad so I can show people. My ipad is on Ios5.1 which seems to have caused issues with some card readers.

Glad to be of use.
