Hi,

I’m hoping someone with an iPad might be able to help me out here. I’ve been told that my website gallery thumbnail panes don’t scroll sideways on either the iPad or Android mobile phones but I don’t have either so can’t test it. I’ve tested on my laptop and desktop using all browsers (including Safari) and it works fine.

Does anyone know what might be different about scrolling DIVs on the iPad?

Example...

Cheers,
Andy.

I just tried it on my iPhone and FYI Opera does the same as Safari.

Both assume that a single finger swipe is going to scroll the whole page in common with normal usage on the iPhone.

If the users know how and without any further code, it can be scrolled using two fingers.

Just checked it on my ipad and can confirm the bottom strip works with a two finger scroll :)

Ah, ok that is interesting. I’ve just asked an iPhone user to test that one for me. They said they didn’t know about the two finger scroll.

Thanks for checking this.

I’ll have to look into the iScroll solution in some more detail but I get the impression it overrides the two finger scroll functionality. I guess I need to decide which is more natural. From the comments I’ve received it sounds like a fair few people don’t know about two finger scrolling on these devices. Is that fair to say?

Andy.

quite possibly.

I've only had my iPhone for a week, though, and I'm discovering new tricks every day.

People just get their new toy out of the box and start using it. Not an awful lot of documentation comes with the iPad. I was sad enough to have a quick look and found out about the various finger swipes / movements.
