ipad 3 and 4

Thanks for the info.

Bought my 'new' iPad around eight weeks ago and am vey happy with it....that said, although I appreciate tech moves fast these days, I was a bit miffed at the new release...

Cheers.

There isn't much difference really, the update was really so they can make the new iPad have the lighting connector. The processor is a bit more powerful but the 3 is pretty instant in everything it does as it is! And that's it.

There really isn't anything in it, it's certainly not worth swapping.

I wouldn't quite go that far, considering the iPad 4 is around twice the speed of its predecessor. If you enjoy using them for games, or indeed, perhaps photo processing, it's a fair improvement.

(The front camera's also been nudged up in resolution, so FaceTime callers can see just how dashing you are =:)

It's not twice the speed though if you look at the benchmarks, there only 300mhz between them.

I'm fairly p1ssed about this one.
I called Apple yesterday and they weren’t interested.
The guy I spoke to didn't get the fact that they have done this upgrade sneakily. No big adverts or emails. Mini ipad on the other hand......................
The ‘new’ ipad is now the old ipad. After only 8 months. Not impressed with Apple.
What if they upgrade again in 4 months or even 1 month, are we just meant to accept it????

Why worry? Your iPad 3 is as excellent as it was the day you bought it!

Granted, it's slightly annoying sneaking the A6x in there but that's it, the rest is to make it lighting compatible and that's simply a corporate thing.

Exactly. And surely those that are in the Apple ecosystem (not a criticism, more an observation) are fully aware of how often hardware gets updated.

I'm an Android person myself, and must admit that although android does cover a range of manufacturers, the rate at which they are churning out the next best handset is staggering.

Just because it's now been superseded doesn't make it less capable.
