iPad 2 and iBooks problem

Wonder if anyone could help me please.
I have an iPad 2 and when I open iBooks the books will open OK but none of the PDF files will open. When I click on Collections then PDFs iBooks just closes down back to the home page.
I have re-installed iBooks but still the same problem
Appreciate any ideas please.
Is it possible to transfer PDFs to the Kindle App if I cannot sort out the iBook issue.

Have you just upgrade the iOS to 7.0.3 by any chance?

I have an iPad 3 or 4 (can't remember which one) and have had the same problem when I upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 my iPad came up saying it needed a full factory reset :( so after doing that I have had to start re-building all the libraries and everything else. My wife hasn't had a problem on her iPhone4

At the moment from searching various apple forums and the apple support section, it seems that they are gone for good. which is exceedingly annoying as I had all my manuals and various brochures/catalogues for work on their. Also it seems when you do a back-up of the ipad that PDFs in iBooks not included.

It has only recently started to happen and I have upgraded to the latest IOS .....my iPhone 5S is OK
Any ideas if you can go back to 7.0.2

Just done a reset all settings and iBooks is still not working properly??
Tried installing a few PDFs at a time and it appears that 2 PDFs are causing the problem although they open OK on my pc.
