Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to which of these is the best for occasional use away?

The 3G Ipad 2 seems to be about £100 more than the regular one versus £70-odd for a 3G Mifi with about £15 worth of credit on it, so pricewise there's nothing much in it, it's the usability I'm more interested in....

If you have a smartphone that can act as a wifi hotspot (I know iPhone 4 and some Android handsets can) that is an easier option.

I presume that the iPad2 is the same as the original and that only the 3G version has proper GPS? For some (me included) that might be worth the difference.

For ease of use I would go with the 3G version of the ipad. I have been weighing up the options myself and having everything integrated for portability is worth the extra for me.

Before I moved house I had my original iPad connected with a 3 mifi. Quite a versatile set up for me since I also used it to connect to the net on my laptop and phone without destroying the battery life of the phone.

Benefit is the mifi can sit connected to the mains so you don't need to worry about topping up the phones battery.

If you get one though, make sure you get a decent rolling monthly contract price with a useable data allowance. None of this 500mb rubbish, it'll disappear in no time!
