Hi what car do you have ?

If its a modern ford with the bluetooth synch on board, there is an update from Ford.

I'll find the link and post it

Apparently there is going to be a version of IOS 5.0.1 coming out at the end of this month which fixes the number of complaints relating to the battery life

Did you know that the apps on the iPhone and iPad do not turn off automatically once you have finished with them....if you double click the Home button you can see the apps which are still running in the background at the bottom.
So it is recommended that you turn them off to conserve your battery....hold your finger on one until you see the red marker and then press it to close the app....this does not delete it, just closes it.

You are talking about the multitasking feature in iOS.

"Multitasking in iOS allows you to switch instantly between apps and to resume an app. When you return to an app, you can pick up right where you left off. Multitasking doesn't slow down the performance of the foreground app or drain battery life unnecessarily."

I don't get a red marker, just an 'x' that deletes it.

You don't need to do it. As the link shows above, this doesn't adversly effect battery life. I also suspect you are holding your finger over an app in it's usual place on the home screen, and not in the multitasking bar that you launch by double tapping the home button.

Surely that depends on the tasks running, if they are 'active' tasks, perhaps logging in to 'mother' or what-have-you then surely that is going to have an impact on battery life, large or small.

I was just quoting the Apple site.

Better not having to connect to iTunes to update and this one seems pretty painless, just a few minutes on the iPad but longer and slower on the iPhone.

Took 5 minutes over wifi on both iPad and iPhone. No probs at all.

It's 40mb if you do the update within the iPad menu or 55mb for IPhone apparently

2 hours for my ipad to download the update

Not sure where 40mb comes from, it's showing as a 723mb download for the update on the ipad....

If you update from the device itself settings>general>software update it just downloads the patch update which is around 40mb

Using iTunes means the whole iOS image is downloaded which is around 700mb
