iOS5

I'm now on iTunes 10.5....and I've downloaded a copy of IOS 5 for iPhone 4... I can't seem to drag it into iTunes though - any ideas? I can't wait another 5 hours...!!

Connect your iPhone and then Ctrl click on Restore and select the ipsw file you have downloaded.
 
OMG I got excited just then, clicked update on my ipod touch 4g and instead of the "your software is up to date message" it loaded and little bar saying contacing update site, then it came back and DAM said "your software is up to date" LOL
 
Yeah revision for exam tomorrow is better! Argg I don't want to restore it...curses...umm I'll wait another 2.5 hours...it's sooo painful!

You just use the restore button but press the ctrl key at the same time. You then just select the new version you have downloaded and it installs it. It is not restoring it to earlier settings but loading the new version, ie IOS5
 
Hmm doesn't give me that option - just either back up or not, and then restore... :thinking:
 
You need iTunes 10.5 in order to install iOS5. Download it before 6pm or you'll get stuck with everyone else.

Then at 6pm you can just download iOS5.
 
I have got 10.5! I don't understand, not working for me! :(
 
I have, I've got 10.5, but still won't let me do iOS 5 even clicking ctrol etc...

ahh ok, Itunes 10.5 is installed :thumbs:
 
Try Alt instead of ctrl - differences between mac and windows? - when you click the restore button and a window opens where you select the ipsw file.
 
It's out now ... downloading to iPhone 4
 
iOS 5 coming down the pipe woooohoooo :)
 
50 MB connection, been downloading about 11 mins and reporting another 30 to go!

mine went the other way, raced in at 50 mins, now has slowed up to 80 mins.

Hit a huge traffic jam I think :)
 
this could turn into a who can download iOS 5 first thread :)
