iOS Background Downloads

Just got an iphone after a couple of years of android. I used to set up my rss feeds, podcasts and any other apps to download everyday at 5am.

As far as i can see in iOS, only 'foreground' apps can download. Is there anyway to do what i used to do on android>
 
The native apple Podcast app is rubbish. If you get Downcast you can set it to download your podcasts when you want to.

Cheers Ricardo. Downloaded downcast and uninstalled native podcast app. Any ideas which rss reader features background downloading?
