Ios 6.1

Doesn't seem worth the effort. Will do it at some point.

Not unless you're in some foreign land needing 4g. There's some bug fixes but no mention of what they do fix.

Supposedly a 6.1 untethered jailbreak coming soon, so if jail breaking is something wanted then definitely worth the update.

I am having problem with my I-pad 2 & wireless (Netgear) and 6.0.1,hopfully this will sought it out :(

I know of an iPhone 5 user who has found their wifi problems completely rectified, (wifi router that was failing to work at all now working perfectly).

Nothing too do with the iOS update, we'll I hope it isn't, I have two iPads, one being the 2 and the other being the latest one, the latter has just stopped working in terms of wifi

The wifi option is now gray and I can no longer switch it on and here is the problem....if the new iOS will fix the issue, how do I down load the new iOS when I can't connect to the Internet ????

I no longer have a PC or any other device to connect too iTunes

As per your other thread - http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559

I had the same issue with my wife's iPhone, but I just used iTunes, and the new update has sorted it. Can you not borrow a PC?

I'm having an intermittent WiFi dropping connection with my iPhone 5 and Netgear router. Hopefully this is the update I have been waiting for .

Andy

Yep mine a Netgear router, just done the update but still runing slow :shake:,read a bit about this problem with Netgear router, but at the moment Apple are doing their uselly (what problem) :(

Downloaded and installed on ipad last night then had to reboot my Netgear router to get my broadband back up. Very strange indeed!

Netgear make the internals for the virgin superhub. For this reason alone I'd no longer touch any of their wireless stuff.

I've heard negative things about the gigabit 8 port routers. Early failures mainly.

My infrastructure is Asus wireless (faultless and excellent coverage) and TP-link switches. I have a custom built firewall, so no router (the Asus is used in Access Point mode and hasn't missed a beat since it was installed about 6 months ago).

Linksys gigabit wireless N router running DD-WRT connects all my devices. Never failed me once in the last 2.5 years.

Virgin Media hub and O2 router however........ but they are both used as a modem, so they rarely fail. *touch wood*

Still yet to update mine, got the update message this morning when I was leaving for work. going to give it a go tonight after syncing and on wi-fi with power. Coming from iOS 1 in 2007, I much prefer clean restores on each update, so don't really trust OTA.

tell you what, ive gone right off netgear kit. its standards seem to be dropping a LOT.

Yep this is the old one, which is usually very reliable, the new one got sent back as it kept dropping the connection.

Thon Netgear-made Virginmedia hub is a real piece of crap.
Many users on another forum put it into modem only mode, and use something much more reliable, faster, easier to configure for the wireless element.

My Sky Sagemcom router is very good, but an even worse POS for configuring - slow/fails to connect/hangs something like I've not seen in 10 years or more.
Over the past few days it's been dropping connection to the outside world for no reason, and you can't connect to it to run Sky diagnostics, etc.
But when it's working 100%, it's a much better signal strength than the (not so) Superhub.

Cisco make crap wireless. Tried some at work many years ago. Cheapo routers outperformed them hands down.

That's a very sweeping statement. We switched from intermec APs in our warehouse to Cisco and never looked back.

It was crap compared to el cheapo routers. Several hundred quid model wouldn't even get into adjacent rooms. It was even inferior with the external aerial. Ended up using something like a cheap netgear with a massive external aerial on the roof to cover most of the building with a couple of others at extremities. I'd expected the cisco to be way ahead but it wasn't.

They may have improved since then obviously :)

My netgear was ok with the old g5 imac. Faultless. Completely useless with the intel macbook. Connection dropped constantly. I think apple switched the wireless chipset and whatever they started to use just hated netgear routers. Used a crappy dlink from virgin more reliably. That's how bad it was!

I have never had any problems with this Netgear and my ipad.

Just thought it was strange that the router lost broadband completely, as soon as the update had downloaded.

Incidentally I didn't think Cisco owned netgear, I know they took over linksys as their consumer brand..

D'oh! Well remembered - posted edited to remove foot from mouth!
