Amidst all the fuss of Lion being released it seems that an update to iOS has surfaced too.

4.3.4 is out now

:)
 
They were never going to put anything new in 4.3.4 with 5.0 just around the corner. Can't see the point myself of jailbreaking though.

Being able to set the phone up as you want rather than what Apple thinks you want? SBSettings, message delivery reports, customisation of icons, call/text manager programs like MCleaner or iBlacklist, wifi hotspot without paying your network for the privilege?

I could go on, but I'm sure you get the idea ;)
 
What about making the OS less secure and, dare I say, less stable that Apple intend too? That's certainly been the experience of several colleagues.
 
I've never had issues with stability on my jailbreak and with anything common sense is the best security. The benefits I've got from jailbreaking far outweigh the minor security risk you take with it.

Rumours are going about that it will be a date in mid August but as wish everything Apple a firm data hasn't been published. They released beta 4 yesterday do it is likely to still be at least several weeks away as a minimum.

Actually jailbreaking makes the phone more secure if done properly, there are security patches (like the PDF exploit patcher) only available on Cydia (Apple just ignored it for years).

Ive been jailbreaking since the original iPhone, and it's always been perfectly stable (again, if some techno-newb messes up a jailbreak and renders the phone unstable you can hardly blame the jailbreak).
 
4.3.5 out now; another 666mb download - think I'll wait!

Most people don't know how to do it properly and open up all sorts of vulnerabilities that they are unaware of. Whilst Apple's closed system has it's problems there is a greater level of quality control on what gets onto your phone that some apps available via Cydia et al.

I have jailbroken every iPhone I have ever owned out or curiosity and reverted back to the official OS within days (hours on one occasion) due to stability issues on several frequently used apps. And yes, I do know what I'm doing :-)
