What software do people use to invoice there customers and have a reciept for themselves for tax and VAT purposes.
Trying to find something that isnt a ripoff and that will be easy to use and not soo complicated.

Do people do invoices?? If so what do you include? Labour? Prints? Travelling etc etc.

Im also using Mac not PC.

Many Thanks
Matt

I use Sage Line 100 and I hate everything about it. Or perhaps I hate everything about accounts. Either way, it's a windows only deal I believe. I hate that too.

lol Thanks. I was thinking Myob firstedge i think thats what its called. But it seems to be more till based. I wont be using a till. Or am i thick and thinking wrong.

I dont understand or want to understand all this account rubbish just want to know what i do and get a mate to sort it lol.

Just hand write each one on triple carbon paper and file it in cabinets, once a year give the contents of the cabinet to your accountant with everything else.

I prefer typed computer stuff as if there was any problem - fire. Or anything at least id have a digital copy on a HD.

try this its called express invoice for mac, its free and it seems to work fine

I built my own - though havent put it into production yet (time!!).

It's a windows only version presently - but caters for everything the business needs.

Your a star thank you very much!! Do you use it yourself? Any good/bad points about the software?

I use Excel to do the sums and paste the results into a Word document. It's worked for me for the last fifteen years. PM if you want more details.

No sorry, our company has a bespoke package for our systems but i run it on my mac before to have a look and it seems to be able to do the basics. if it is just invoices and traceability you want then this should do the trick....and its free.

Like others have mentioned though you could do it on excel. You would just need to uniquely number every invoice, keep a copy and keep a schedule of who the invoices have gone to, what the number is, the value (incl and excl VAT if your registered) and the date of issue. Give all this info to your accountant once a year and he should sort the rest no problem.

Cheers guys much appreciated some good responses! Will do a bit of trial on a few just to see what i like best. Wont do it on any real customers just made up ones for a test.
