Hello talk photography.

My name is darren ward and i live just outside gloucester. I have always liked taking photos and bought my first slr 8 years ago after borrowing a friends. A couple of years ago i upgraded to a Nikon D50 dslr (2nd hand but got a lot of kit!) I have always just taken photos without much thought (like you do! :eek:) but i want to change that.

With the help of you guys and some hard work i hope to be able to improve my photo taking and explore the other setting on my camera other than auto and portrait!

welcome darren, hope you find the information you are looking for, start with AV mode first, it works out your shutter speed when you put in your f/ number, a good starting point,

Another quick "welcome to TP" note.

Lots of people here should be able to help in lots of ways.

My advice is to force yourself to go straight to M mode and experiment away. Chances are you will get some rubbish pictures in the short term but learn the balance between iso, aperture, shutter speed etc.. and be a better tog in the long term.
