Hi,
Quick intro - this site was recommended to me by someone over at EPZ forums.
I've been into photography for a little while, mostly landscape and some working with models (although only recently starting getting studio\lighting experience). I've recently decided to experiment with film and was told the film section here is good. To avoid typing it all again here is my post from EPZ. I've got batteries on order, the chambers seemed in good condition with no sign of corrosion so I'm hoping they were just dead and the metering will work on at least of the cameras
I was told poundland can stock film, or otherwise was given some links for good websites etc and also for processing. However I think the cost involved, having to wait for the results, and not having the option of RAW editing will make me plan shots a lot more carefully and also I'm hoping I'll learn from the experience. I also just really like the feel of the cameras
----
By the time I was into photography enough to get an SLR digital was the thing and they were cheap enough that that's what I got and have used ever since. I do like being able to try endless combinations of things without it costing me anything but I do think it would be interesting to try a film SLR. I recently ended with one in good condition - a Fujica AZ-1 with a Fujinon 43-75mm lens - that someone was giving away on Freecycle. I've also more recently found a Fujica st705w with a 55mm Fujinon lens on it, although this was found in a shed and although it is in a case it isn't in great condition.
I'm planning on getting a couple of films and trying them out, initially getting the films developed elsewhere but if the bug bites I may consider doing some home developing.
I think it will be interesting having the limit of shots and obviously some cost involved so having to plan each shot more carefully etc.
Does anyone have any tips to get the most from the cameras, and any good shots to try? I was going to just try a variety of things, and if I end up getting to do a studio shoot at some point maybe taking one along and getting a couple of extra shots on it there.
