At the moment i am running Norton internet security, i am running it on windows 7 64bit, desktop & Laptop, i think it slows down both systems.
Its up for renewel shortly, should i stick with this or is there anything better?

Avg or evens Windows security both free the last time I looked will do a good job. Used both when I had Windows machines never had a problem

I've always used ESET range, using nod32 at the moment.

It has become a bit more mainstream over the last few years and as such got a little fat, but still works great for me.

Certainly not the cheapest but I never get a problem with it

I use avast paid and find it great, though when I want to get granular it is a bit of a nightmare! But Norton is notorious for slowing things down.

F-secure for me. Never had any issues.

Bitdefender in either free or paid guise is very good.

Ranks highly in both security and speed.

mse gets a slating in detection ratings recently.
everything Microsoft creates gets a slating whether it deserves I or not.

Ok thanks guys, all very different comments, will give one a try, best get looking;)

over 20 years on the internet. and no problems... I use ..... common sense v1.0

Email readers are for email not websites so I only accept text messages.. you cant get a virus from ASCII
I never open anyhting I am not sure of in the first place..
I rarely (cant say never) end up on dodgy websites
I never install anythign I ahve noit investigated properly first

I use windows PC nad curently win7 .. have used everyhting from in 3.1 and atari computers before that

oh and I am not paranoid.. I dont think the hackers of the world are interested in what I ahve on my hard drive.. and if they are.. they will be dissapointed :)

I can't ever recall having ever put an AV or FW on a windows install in the last 20 years and have used w3.1, w95, w98, w2k, xp, w7 and now w8.1 and not had any problems so far. I think the main people who benefit from this type of software would be those who share a PC, or people who install software from non trusted sites.
