Anyone having problems opening IE in the last couple of days .

I use google chrome and think it is better than IE.

Yup yup, I use Chrome as well, much better.

As someguy201 said, need more info rather then "having problems".

yeah i seem to be having a problem over the last couple of days, pages keep freezing and saying not responding and i keep getting a window come up saying internet explorer has stopped working and needs to close then when i close that window internet explorer is still working as the next link or page i clicked on will open but its happening a lot and i`m starting to get cheesed off with it. i have scanned for viruses but seem clean of them. any ideas?

I have been getting the same since updating to the new version couple months ago.

Can it effect bridge too?

For some reason IE 9 won't install on mine (Win7 home Premium), it downloads, installs then when machine restarts and files updates it fails and reverts to IE 8. Stopping antivirus and firewall and other background programs doesn't make any difference, I've stopprd trying now.

Oh, my Win 7 is a legit copy.

IE crashing could be caused by many things. Personally, I would just use a different browser.

Internet Explorer has been proven time and time again to be the best browser

For installing Firefox and Chrome :P

Agree about FF, used to be the bees knees for me now it just seems to be bloatware too. Takes an age to load up, mind you IE8 is not much better in loading up times. I'm beginning to think my computer needs a good spring clean and reformat. Clearing temp folders etc doesn't help much now.

Use IE only if you're obliged :) Chrome and Mozilla are definetely better.

actually i prefer IE9 over FF and Ch at the moment.

IE9 uses significantly less memory than FF which eats memory even if you leave it to its own devices, eventually it uses so much memory it grinds to a halt. Ch uses even less memory but i cant for the life of me bring myself to like it.

I don't like chrome. I can't stand not being able to find everything I need, it's really annoying that I don't know where my bookmarks are etc.

I rely on the Opera sidebar for lots of things, Chrome has always annoyed me because it's too minimalistic. I don't want to have to go searching for what I need, or install a ton of add-ons to make it function properly.

I don't like the idea of a "bookmarks bar" either - which you can enable on Chrome. I have too many bookmarks and don't want to have to go through everything to get the one I want. I want them listed with folder/tree options so I can organise them and categorize them.

Chrome is also probably the only browser for me where I don't find it immediately obvious where everything is. I don't think the UI is as "intuitive" - whatever that means - as claimed.

Wrench->Options->Always show the bookmarks bar and then drop all your bookmarks in there.

I have the following addins installed:

That's it - nothing else...

Not sure what you mean here, but you can organise into folders etc...

It does take a little getting used to (the omnibox took me a while to sort in my head for example) but I just love being able to search ebay (for example) directly from the omnibox with 5 letter typed e-b-a-y-TAB.

IE was awful, too slow and bulky. FF3 was fine, but FF4 doesn't sit well with Photoshop...(my maching is not the most powerful). Chrome I do like, but again, it doesn't go well with PS. I am now using Opera, which seems fast, intuitive, etc. Only thing is, I am not sure the colour is done right in Opera. Chrome and FF were colour managed, or something, where IE and the rest were not. Is that right?

I much prefer a sidebar layout for bookmarks, but I did find that.

I probably have around 100 bookmarks or more in various categories that I need to access regularly. I don't see how the bookmarks bar is that practical for large numbers - even with folders. I don't really like losing the extra space either - not a fan of toolbars in general, and I don't really like the dropdown style for folders in the bookmarks.

Opera has done that for a long time, and I only have to type "e" and then my search term ;)

I don't intend to change browsers anytime soon, although I do use Chrome + FF + IE as secondary browsers.

Does Opera allow opening a number of tabs (in a bookmark folder or some other way of storing a collection of bookmarks) with the middle mouse button?

Yes from that point of view FF should not be even in a list of prefered browsers.... but on the other hand everything in FF is easier and it just works :) Recently I've had some problems with Java + IE, but that's a long story...

There is Sessions - which you can have either on startup - or as an option to load each startup, or load at any point fairly easily which will load a pre-saved "session".

I don't think you can load them with a mouse gesture or quicker shortcut, although I'm not sure as I never use Sessions.

It's 2 clicks to load a session (although goes through two small drop-down menu's as well).

Yikes, that'd be a dealbreaker for me... I use it about 100 times a day <cough> to load up all the forums I'm interested in on TP ;)

Oops ... i kinda forgot i'd posted this . Ooookay ....

Everytime i go to open IE i get the

Diagnose connection problems

Then a popup saying that Malware blocked a malicious website...

I've since downloaded GC and am now a happy bunny .

That's not an inherent problem with Internet Explorer, but your computer is infected with malware.

Chrome is so fast I've never looked back

Have tried Chrome in the past and whilst I did like it, the password manager didn't work correctly. If that problem has been resolved I may go back.

Try it again. Password manager was broken for me some (many??) months back, but works perfectly for me now.
