Does any one know how long they can keep my money before thay will transfer it back ??
I may send them a letter on monday saying that if I dont get my money back by thursday, I will go to small claims court...maybe that will help...

Get on to your Credit card company and they will stop it instantly, suppliers are not supposed to do that.

side note; Paypal are lightning quick at refunding in this type of situation.

if that would be Credit card I would do that...but that was paid with debit card....

It's still worth contacting the bank, actually the debit card people not your local branch. I think some debit cards may give you better protection than others. It costs nothing to find out though.

name and shame supplier that may do the trick

I agree with that too.

If they've done the dirty on you and taken your money without supplying anything you certainly don't owe them the courtesy of anonymity.

on the phone to HSBC now...

I always google a supplier and put 'feedback' after their name...

Surprising what shows up

Thing is though that more people write back feedback than good, even if it is a good supplier. People always talk about the bad things, but not good.

Bristol Cameras have some shockingly bad reviews if you look them up. But I had really good experiences with them. Fotosense also have bad reviews, and whilst my experiences weren't fantastic, they were still alright!

Thanks for your advice Bill.
I rang HSBC and most likely they would help me at this moment but department that deals with this kind of cases is closed now...they will call me back monday or so

I remember calling HSBC in similar case few years back and remember they have told me thay could not do it...but recently HSBC have changed their debit cards in to VISA and maybe that is the reason I may get my money back !
Thanks again...
will keep every one updated...

here is the story

I will keep that in mind if HSBC wont help,
Thank you

When contacting your bank, suggest that you'd like to follow the 'Chargeback' route - for goods not supplied in accordance with the original agreement/goods not supplied at all..... there is no reason why they should not charge the supplier and credit you back.... (can't remember how long this takes though....)

from memory, I think they give the supplier 14-21days to respond.

There are 110's of reasons why transactions can be 'charged back' - from the 'goods not supplied' (which should be a simple one ) through to the sublime !!

They should refund as soon as possible, but are allowed 30 days.

See section 3.46 of the Distance Selling Regulations.

Get a firm undertaking from them for when the refund will be processed. If they fail, take it up with Trading Standards.

Maybe they have 30days but they should not take any money off me before sending goods.once they charge me,it means that the lens is on the way.
Anyhow, have to wait untill Monday and see what it brings.
Once again thanks for advises fellow TP'ers

I ordered a Tamron lens from these people a year or so back, and it never shipped (always "just coming.. waiting another week". I finally got my money back after threatening a credit card chargeback.

I think Camerabox are probably grey dealers... and if the exchange rate goes pear shaped (as it has recently) they just will not supply at the price you paid originally.

BTW as they have charged you, you can insist that they supply the lens.

You are incorrect there. Charging once goods have been dispatched is an extra that many retailers now offer, and is something we've grown used to.

This is one reason I always use a credit card for buying online especially if the value of the items is over £100 any problem the card company has some responsibility, pay the card off every month and you have no problem but you get a lot of extra protection useing a credit card.

I had a similar problem with a pram we ordered from an online company. When they were on watchdog for taking loads of orders for the same pram that they could never fulfill, alarm bells began to ring! We requested money back which they said they have 30 days to do. Day 29 we got an email to say they had gone into administration! £400 lighter and no pram! Had to pay another £400 elsewhere as the wife was due imminently!

To sum up, always pay by Visa as they seem to offer the best protection. I used switch card which don't!

Credit cards not all visa cards are credit cards. The protection comes from the consumer credit act. Credit providers share liability for any breach of contract or misrepresentation by suppliers of the goods or services which have been financed (even partially) by the credit.

So even when booking a holiday as long as you pay over £100 on a credit card it covers you. I even used my credit card to pay the £150 deposit on my car just for the added protection.

Debit cards don't offer the same protection as you are not useing any part of the consumer credit act or entering a credit agreement.

So finally I have my money back...it took them 3 weeks!!!

They are not going to get any money from me ever again !!

Glad it worked out OK in the end Lukas!

cheers

For some reason i knew you was going to say camerabox before i even read the post, i had 'communication' problems with a while ago, over an order that was emailed the following day as being despatched yet a week later still hadn't been sent, seemed to get an illiterate youth answering my emails 'please note we have supply problems you order will be sent soon as' for every reply.
I then requested to cancel and after a few days getting very frustrated threatened legal action the boss rang and offerred all sorts of apologies and gave me a new, definite delivery date.
The goods came on that date but i'll never use them again though, life's hard enough without having to argue with people over their lack of service.
